..to have a cheeky afternoon nap?

DavetheCat2001 · 24/01/2019 12:03

I'll often take the opportunity to have a nap in the afternoon of around 45 mins to an hour before the school run if I can/have finished all my jobs etc.

I kind of feel a bit guilty, but kind of don't.

anyone else?

Crack on! Love a good nap...never get them but I would have one every day if I could.

adultcat · 24/01/2019 12:16

I love an afternoon nap! Wednesday afternoon is my nap day but, shhh! Don't tell DH! Grin

WinterHeatWave · 24/01/2019 12:19

Go for it!
I've missed my window (kids will be ho e in about 5 mins) and regretting it!

Nolagerformethanks · 24/01/2019 12:19

Have an extra ten minutes for me, I have a 5 week old sleep thief, good job he's cute Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 24/01/2019 12:20

haha I try and avoid OH knowing too! He's rung me before when I've been snoozing so I've had to appropriate an 'awake' voice quickly!

I think my afternoon naps are leftover from DC's baby/toddler days when I'd grab a nap whoever possible.

I love sleeping.

Only occasionally these days but I am a big fan of the power nap! Mostly 10 minutes but occasionally 20 if I'm unwell, works wonders!

Poodloo · 24/01/2019 12:21

Go for it!!! I never get to nap but have some time off this week. I napped yesterday and felt really groggy after it eurgh. But surprisingly still managed to sleep the whole night last night. Win!

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 24/01/2019 12:23

YABU to use the word 'cheeky'.

EarthboundMisfit · 24/01/2019 12:24

YANBU. I love a good nap. My problem is that I end up sleeping for longer than I planned even with an alarm, so I don't do it often.

DavetheCat2001 · 24/01/2019 12:25

Sorry Dave

I often stumble up the road feeling groggy after a nap..have to pull it together before I get to the gate and people speak to me Grin

Yep! I wfh a lot and often have a nap on my lunch break.

Piebeansandchips · 24/01/2019 12:28

Naps are the best. Love a nap and will have one whenever possible.

Phillipa12 · 24/01/2019 12:29

Have just woken up from a morning nap, was bliss.

EyeDrops · 24/01/2019 12:30

Naps are amazing. I take full advantage of my toddler's preschool days for them. In fact on Monday I had two, one in the morning and one in the afternoon Blush

ElvisParsley · 24/01/2019 12:34

I would, except my boss comes online at lunchtime and is always pinging me ‘urgently’.

DH is also WFH today and trying to persuade me to ‘go for a nap’ with him. I am making myself very busy on MN.

Bluerussian · 24/01/2019 12:34

Absolutely nothing wrong with that at al! Nap as much as you can, I used to, often longer than 45 minutes and never felt guilty. Why the guilt?

Iooselipssinkships · 24/01/2019 12:35

I love the actual nap but after one I am majorly irritable and grumpy.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

TulipsInbloom1 · 24/01/2019 12:35

Why would you hide it from OH? Surely if there's nowt to do it's up to you how you spend your downtime?

Gotstuckwiththisname · 24/01/2019 12:37

I like the idea of it, especially on a day like today, when I'm ill, but have a day to myself. However I always wake up groggy and freezing cold, no matter if I'm under the covers, have loads of clothes on, the heating is on etc. I can't shake the coldness either once it's there. I wish I was good at napping!

Oh I know..just I don't want to rub it in as he'd kill for an afternoon nap! Grin

I hate sleep martyrs. I've met some that treat naps as a moral failing.

You ate healthier and more alert after a nap.

The only time to not nap is if you think it's effecting the quality of your overall sleeping.

DavetheCat2001 · 24/01/2019 12:40

I'll quite often have a nap with the cat

YANBU

The only reason I don’t is because I would sleep through to about 11pm.

MyBreadIsEggy · 24/01/2019 12:42

Omg yes!!! Grin
Tuesday is my nap day. DS goes down around noon, and it’s the one day a week that DD stays at preschool until 3pm. I get 2.5 hours completely to myself while DS sleeps! I get to have lunch undisturbed, watch what I want on tv and have a cheeky nap Grin I LOVE TUESDAYS!
