to think that Eddie Izzard is

just another rich person trying to persuade poor people to give their hard earned money to other poor people? I've just seen him on one of these tv ads guilt tripping people into donating to a worthy cause. Whilst I can understand and sympathise with the people who need money, I can't help but think it would be better if the said Eddie Izzard put his hand in his own pocket first. rather than flouncing around in full make up and nail varnish trying to be a politician

I know - I'm totally U, aren't I?

Actually it’s not

@ratchethandler, that was a fine Tory diatribe. Shame most of its complete bollocks. Try watching "I, Daniel Blake" for a shot of reality.

It's not in 'connection' is Izzard - he was mentioned as an illustration of how 'doing good works' is no indicator of being a good person.

Doing a lot for charity IS commendable, but it doesn't make the person a nice person.

Yeah but what's worse is when a celebrity you don't particularly like DOES practise what they preach. A boy on my road is very unwell and needed treatment abroad. Not only did Simon Cowell make a video requesting people donate. The arsehole also donated £50,000.

So now I have to like him because he did a wonderful, beautiful thing that massively helped that little boy in his way.

Sorry for the situation you find yourself in weebitawksGrin

Italiangreyhound · 25/01/2019 13:44

Weebitawks I am sorry your neighbors' child is ill but that is a fabulous response from Simon Cowell.

Lots of celebs make private gestures, and genuinely done their best to keep it private.
George Michael did it and he's not alone.
They are no different than anybody else - some nice, some not.

I love him and I saw his WiP two nights ago and it's brilliant already so the tour is going to be a belter.

A lot of slebs give a huge amount of money and time to charity - they just don't shout about it.
