Am I BU for being a bit disappointed that the school I spent a year working in (very much a shortage subject, so I was doing them a massive favour), commuting 400 miles every week to get there, failed to acknowledge my contribution when I left? I know I did a bloody good job, because the students achieved excellent exam results and they loved me. I worked my butt off, being in school before 7 every morning and not leaving till gone 5. I feel sad that they did not value me, but I guess the satisfaction of helping the kids is reward enough.

How would you have wanted to be acknowledged?

PooleySpooley · 23/01/2019 22:39

Presumably you were paid for your troubles?

pollyglot · 23/01/2019 22:58

"Thank you" would have been nice.

OP YANBU
Thank you, good luck, we'll be sorry to see you go / miss you etc would have been nice

longwayoff · 23/01/2019 23:49

Yes, I feel my family should thank me every day for the massive unending task of sorting them out, keeping them fed and watered etc. And my employers don't thank me enough for all my hard work. It's just not fair.

Pinkyyy · 23/01/2019 23:55

I wouldn't expect anything after just a year spent working there. Presumably the commute and being there so early/late were all things you chose to do

YANBU, an acknowledgement of thanks at least.
