to ask for help with a badly behaved, disrespectful and horribly rude Rubik's puzzle?

I've had problems with rude puzzles before - just last week my Rubik's magic flipped a plastic piece that slapped me right in the face completely unprovoked, but this pathetic excuse for a cube is giving me the finger and there is nothing I can do to make it stop!

Does anyone have any advice? Youtube and google have failed me so far, so its over to mumsnet!

I can't help you.. I used to take the stickers off.

But GrinGrinGrin

M3lon · 23/01/2019 22:37

Its a borrowed puzzle...so all the usual solution methods that involve pealing bits off or taking it apart are not possible on this occasion....but I also don't want to return it in this stupid state either!

Oh, OP. I'm sorry, you've really cheered me up this evening Grin

I'm guessing the person it's borrowed from isn't worthy of a big, plastic fuck you?

M3lon · 23/01/2019 23:26

No...well not most days of the week anyway...

My worry is that even when I scramble it..it always comes back to this shape...so I can't even hide it effectively!

He's gonna be all, why have you taught my cube to flip me the bird?

bumping incase of lunchtime cubers...I really do need some solution advice here!

I’ll ask DS to have a look when he’s back from school - he’s generally pretty good with Rubik’s cubes Smile

M3lon · 24/01/2019 13:21

Thanks! I've honestly not been able to find detailed instruction for this cube online...but maybe I've gotten the wrong name for it!

I know a phenomenal rubix cube solver but sadly it’s not me. However you have made me chortle Grin

Lougle · 24/01/2019 13:34

Step by step Rubik's cube solver if you have the patience to work through the steps.

Chesty but fun Rubik's cube solver if you just want to tell it what the cube looks like right now - it will tell you what to do to solve it from that point on.

Lougle · 24/01/2019 13:35

That was Cheaty but fun.

Lougle · 24/01/2019 13:36

Ooh it's not a traditional cube.... Hmm

MumW · 24/01/2019 13:38

I don't think I've seen a Rubik's cube shaped like that before. Sorry, not very helpful. Grin

WinterHeatWave · 24/01/2019 13:45

What type of monstrosity is that?
We are struggling with thex2 cubes we got at Xmas. One is completely white, and has irregular pieces. The other has years as some of the pieces, so they turn as you twist. Neither is solved Angry

There are text ones, too, if you prefer written instructions. Just Google "X-cube solutions".

user1474894224 · 24/01/2019 13:53

What is that? In our Rubics obsessed household we have never seen such a thing......Sorry can't help.

@likeacowsopinion You can buy replacement stickers you know....

LikeACowsOpinion · 24/01/2019 14:07

How did you get on OP?

Has your cube learnt manners yet?

If not, can you buy another one and keep this one? I can imagine it coming in very handy in the future Grin

@user1474894224 I did not know that!
I got rid of both of mine though. My days of getting scarily irrationally angry with a cube are over.

user1474894224 · 24/01/2019 14:22

As I keep being told by snotty young adolescents it's just a case of learning the really confusing algorithms. (I sit there with a you tube video for hours if I ever have to do it).

DrowningInRedCabbage · 24/01/2019 14:33

DD who is a bit cube obsessed, says you need to be able to solve a 3x3, 5x5 and a 3x3x5 as it uses a mashup of the same algorithms used to solve those.

My solution would be to hand it back as it is —or buy a new one—

DrowningInRedCabbage · 24/01/2019 14:34

(Strike out skills same level as cube skills apparently!) Blush

WTBE · 24/01/2019 14:37

Oh this one's easy!
Pick it up by the left side where the yellows one are, and use your right hand to toss it out the window Grin

You're welcome.

Presh12345 · 24/01/2019 15:10

My nephew built a robot to "complete" Rubiks cubes. He's a wee brain box.

M3lon · 24/01/2019 18:39

I've watched that video...but they don't have the same problem. They literally do one solve and don't encounter this state.

I've actually already solved the damn thing twice but the third time this happened and I have nothing to solve it.

drowning I think your DD may be onto something there. Again I've solved a 5x5x5 but only once...and when I looked up some solutions for that I realised there was a big load of mess that you can sometimes have to do but don't always. I didn't so I didn't have to work it out.

I'll see if the 5x5x5 has an instruction for turning one edge over. You can't do it on a 3x3 which is why I'm stuck.

Or..Im gonna rescramble and rescramble till it fucks off on its own.

M3lon · 24/01/2019 18:40

presh hoping to build one with DD soon!

Can't decide if a robot for 2x2x2 or 3x3x3 would be easier though.
