to think ‘turn off your f’ing fog light!’.

I am fed up with being dazzled by people who think that the slightest bit of fog means you should put your fog lights on, even if you can see the lights of a car 20 cars ahead.

And don’t get me started on people who sit on their brake at traffic lights...

And relax...

Or people who just leave their full beams on because it’s a dark country road!!

ToPlanZ · 23/01/2019 22:27

People who put their fog lights on due to rain!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 23/01/2019 22:27

YANBU. At all. Anyone who has their fog lights on when visibility is more than a hundred yards (also known as ‘pretty dense fog’) should lose their license.

And I don’t buy “Well, I want other cars to see me in the dark/drizzle/ever so slight mist”. You’re inconsiderate and more likely to cause an accident by dazzling the driver behind...who might just run into YOU.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 23/01/2019 22:28

I get annoyed with automatic full beams.

Most of the time, they stya on too long dazzling the driver on coming yet the driver doesn't think to switch manually

BrightYellowDaffodil · 23/01/2019 22:29

(Just to clarify, the lose your license comment is tongue in cheek. I will, however, lend my full support to a public flogging)

Bouchie · 23/01/2019 22:29

Or people that didn't put any fucking lights on this morning despite shite visibility. Yes it may be daytime but it's not easy to see you in fog and rain dickhead.

Thisisthelaststraw · 23/01/2019 22:29

YANBU

Also full beams on behind me Angry

Catsize · 23/01/2019 22:31

I have found my people...

OP posts:
starzig · 23/01/2019 22:35

Not to mention road ragey people.

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 22:36

People who keep their foot on the brake at traffic lights. Dazzling the car behind. Just put the handbrake on FGS.

U2HasTheEdge · 23/01/2019 22:39

I keep my brake on when at a red light. I drive an automatic and on the way to work there are loads of traffic lights. Much easier just to keep my foot on the brake.

I agree about the rest though.

Squidgee · 23/01/2019 22:40

I got flashed at for having my Fog lights on the other day... you couldn't see the broadside of a bus at 20ft the fog was that thick >.

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 22:40

This from the Highway Code-

In stationary queues of traffic, drivers should apply the parking brake and, once the following traffic has stopped, take their foot off the footbrake to deactivate the vehicle brake lights. This will minimise glare to road users behind until the traffic moves again.

Isn't the Foglight thing because they think it makes their car look sporty?

Yes, really!!

starzig · 23/01/2019 22:42

Been driving 25yr and yet to be dazzled by a brake light. Is this a new technology thing?

SarahAndQuack · 23/01/2019 22:43

@U2, you want to put the handbrake on because if someone shuts into the back of you, it'll protect you better. That's why you're meant to do it.

The main beams on country roads drives me nuts. I know someone round here who says she always drives with her main beams on because, apparently, she needs to be able to see and if other drivers can't cope that's their problem. Hmm

Also hate people who flash their main beams to try to make you speed up, when you're on an icy, bendy road in the dark.

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 22:44

I find it's cars with the extra strip brake light at the top of the back windscreen that dazzle you in traffic queues. Right at eye level.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 23/01/2019 22:44

Yeah, I'm with U2 I'm afraid, I drive an auto and it's much easier lazier to keep the brake on than put the car in neutral and then back in drive. There's no handbrake, just an auto parking brake.
I'm with you on the lights though, although cyclists in dark clothes with no lights on are worse. Usually seem to be young teenagers around here.

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 22:47

I will assume the people blinding me with their brake lightsin stationary traffic drive automatics from now on, making them exempt. Grin

Onecutefox · 23/01/2019 22:48

People who keep their foot on the brake at traffic lights. Dazzling the car behind. Just put the handbrake on FGS.

That's a bit strange to demand as it depends on how long do you need to wait for. I also don't remember my driving instructor telling me not to keep my foot on the brakes. It all depends.

Siameasy · 23/01/2019 22:50

Oh don’t. Bloody fog lamps
“If in doubt put fog lamp on”

Still, that is nothing. I drive on motorways and dual carriageways at night a lot and I swear loads of the drivers are pissed

If in doubt, reverse up the slip road👍🏻
Another time, just stop your lorry on the dual carriageway for the hell of it👍🏻
Why not do 35 on a motorway while we’re about it👍🏻

Sparklingbrook · 23/01/2019 22:50

I can't demand it. But I do it myself so as not to blind the person behind, especially when the lights have just changed to red and you know it will a be a while.

I will ask DS2 to ask his driving instructor. Also my Dad who drives an automatic.

thenightsky · 23/01/2019 22:52

I drive an automatic and always put my handbrake on at the lights. I'd rather do that than have to keep changing the bulbs when they burn out.

With you on the foglights. Once a car is behind you on the road, they can see you. Turn the fogs off because it makes it hard to see when you brake.

Unihorn · 23/01/2019 22:53

Autos creep forward if you don't keep your foot on the brake, even on hills. Which is both useful and tiring on my foot.

Starlighting888 · 23/01/2019 22:53

Oh honestly don’t get me started on the right up your bumper brigade. Or the big 4 by 4s driver that need two lanes and two car parking spaces.

My favourites are the feckers who deliberately get in the wrong lane in rush hour and then try to cut across at the last minute.
