I forgot my ds water bottle in school.I saw the teaching assistant next day who told me she had found it and assured me she would wash it out and replace water. She didn't do this and ds came home with same water ,I knew because I'd put a little lemon in with his water.Just feel let down and like she thought who cares she won't know but because of the lemon I do.Would this concern you?

Strongly worded email to the head Hmm

Nearthebig40 · 23/01/2019 21:48

If lemon juice had been brewing in the water for 24 hours the chances are the bottle would hang onto the smell (I can’t get the smell / taste out of mine and it’s been thru the dishwasher)

sackrifice · 23/01/2019 21:48

Wut? I don't understand what the problem is

Sassidgeroll · 23/01/2019 21:49

I've put lemon in water bottles before and could still taste it after numerous washes. Yabu and precious

sleepylittlebunnies · 23/01/2019 21:49

I only wash my kids water bottles on a Friday, other days I swill them out and put fresh tap water in before school. If they forget to bring their bottle home I just give them a different bottle to take and remind them to bring them home.

If they drink all their water they can refill their bottle at school. If it happens again tell DS to tip the water in a sink and refill it himself so it’s fresh. I doubt 1 day old water will do any harm but doesn’t taste particularly nice. Does he like the lemon squeezed into it?

There have been some ridiculous threads on here today

Yulebealrite · 23/01/2019 21:50

I wouldn't worry about it. Reception children don't have form for being the most hygienic creatures. I'm sure he is exposed to far worse everyday.

LostInShoebiz · 23/01/2019 21:50

Perhaps she was busy assisting the teaching and forgot to do the skivvying.

I’d also be far more worried about the lemon on his teeth.

30 children age 4/5
, 2 adults . Maybe she had lots and lots of other things to do .

Miane · 23/01/2019 21:52

What exactly do you think day old water from his own bottle is going to do to him?

Helix1244 · 23/01/2019 21:53

Dp has sometimes drunk water weeks old from his water bottle (ewww!). He is still alive.
Dc have both at some stage grabbed their milk cups and swigged yesterday's milk. Or found missed food off the floor.
Tbh a bigger worry is that if someone is sick in class or coughing depending on bottle spout it is going on the bit you drink from.

DillyDilly · 23/01/2019 21:54

Is he not drinking his water - bottle came home with water that was in it for two days ??

DameSquashalot · 23/01/2019 21:54

I wouldn't worry. dD left her packed lunch at school. I made her a fresh one, but she's very absent minded and took some chicken from the old one. She was fine.

She only had one bite because it tasted strange. I was worried because their school is so warm but I was worrying about nothing.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 23/01/2019 21:54

Absolutely U to be bothered by this. She's a teaching assistant for 30 small children. Have a couple of spare bottles if it worries you that much.

Would you rather the TA did her job or spent the time (unnecessarily) washing up?

NotANotMan · 23/01/2019 21:55

lol no get over it

Beerflavourednipples · 23/01/2019 21:56

I thought you were going to say that he had forgotten his water bottle for, like, a couple of weeks (oh wait no, that's my DS!) and she didn't wash it.

A day? Get a grip.

Louiselouie0890 · 23/01/2019 21:56

Try having a hand foot and mouth outbreak and no one being told

mindutopia · 23/01/2019 21:56

I don't always wash out and replace my dd's water in her water bottle every day. Some mornings are chaotic. TAs especially probably have better things going on. And avoid the lemon, it will rot his teeth.

strawberriesandsugar · 23/01/2019 21:56

Maybe she washed it and filled and left the lemon in there. You do realise that schools have 30 kids on each clas in reception. Washing it is going above and beyond the norm expectations tbh (I'm a TA. I would have done it. If I had forgotten I prob would have woken at 3am and remembered and been worried about it)

Quartz2208 · 23/01/2019 21:56

lemon in water is really bad for tooth enamel (I know I craved it in both pregnancies)

and it probably just slipped her mind its difficult to keep track

Mishappening · 23/01/2019 21:56

Deary me! - talk about looking for things to worry about!

NorksAreMessy · 23/01/2019 21:57

This is not for real, is it? Really?
Have you ever BEEN in a school?

The poor teachers and TAs have 8000000000000000 things to do, and you are concerned about hygienic water that might just be 24hours old?
