To say I'm happy with Sara Cox on Drivetime?

Put the radio on in the car the other evening and heard this unfamiliar voice (for that time/station) rabbiting on and thought 'not for me' so switched it off.

I'm a fan of the Johnnie Walker / Simon Mayo laid back school of Drivetime broadcasting (hated Chris Evans in that slot) and that brief snippet of Sara Cox in the car wasn't to my liking.

But I've been putting the radio on in the kitchen the past couple of nights preparing dinner and she's winning me over, not least by some of the fantastic music that's being played. The whole show has got a nice fresh feel to it, and she's a lot more chilled than I realised.

I strayed away from Radio 2 when they shoehorned Jo Wiley into that co-presenting thing with Simon Mayo, but I think I'm back.

Anyone else?

Love Sara, she’s a natural radio host; funny, light hearted and has a real warmth, like Simon Mayo I think.

Not as keen on Zoe in the morning .

I like her too she’s like your most amusing friend. I liked Simon Mayo but now he’s gone realise he needed to go.

Please can we get of Steve Wright!

ScrumpyBetty · 23/01/2019 20:31

I like Sara Cox. I wish Simon Mayo could take over from Steve Wright though. Steve is so annoying, not even slightly funny, been on for for too long and I can't stand him Sad

Sara is great !
Steve Wright ahhhhh makes my toes curl like you’re totally unfunny uncle. Thinks he’s hilarious when singing over the end of songs so annoying .

I like Sara on drivetime, and I am also listening to Zoe Ball and liking her. Also I think Jo Wiley is great at 7pm.

They all play music I really like as well.

I do miss Simon though. Not Chris Evans, weirdly as I liked him at the time.

My lack of acceptable radio in the mornings has led me to Podcasts as well as Sara on Catch-up.

I've found the most brilliant podcast called Fortunately with Jane Garvey (Women's Hour) and Fi Glover (Listening Project) No music but they just chat away and generally slag off most of the BBC. It won Best Comedy Podcast for 2018 and its not even supposed to be funny. It's like having a bottle of wine with a couple of your most amusing mates! It's been going for over a year so I'm probably the last to know but I so recommend it if you haven't heard it.

Any other podcasts you can recommend?

I didn't use to like Sara cox, she used to do this baby talk thing that really grated on me... this past week I'm a full convert! Love her doing drive time! I've laughed out loud several times in the car this week and her comments and stories! Brilliant job Sara! Big thumbs up from me!

SmileListened to her request Friday thing last night and I was sorry when I reached home and had to get out of car, the sign of an engaging show I think
