Is there anyone who just eats normally?

I can't believe the amount of threads where the OP claims to eat only a boiled spinach shake for breakfast, plain cous cous for dinner and a salmon fillet with veg for tea. With of course, only an apple as a snack in between.

Is there anyone like me who just has a bowl of cornflakes for breakfast, a meal deal for lunch and then whatever I can be arsed putting in the oven for tea? I'm beginning to wonder if I'm massively unhealthy in comparison to most or whether people are just making this up.

Nowt wrong with sarnies everyday for kids or adults. I took cheese sandwiches to work everyday for 20+ years, as did every other bloke on the shop floor.

Mashedpotatobutty · 22/01/2019 22:12

I only eat beige food.

KlutzyDraconequus · 22/01/2019 22:15

I only eat beige food

We call that 'English cuisine'

I would be starving on three meals a day. I just eat when I need to which works out four meals and a snack. That's my normal!

Jorgezaunders · 22/01/2019 22:18

Lol. I eat normally. I'm overweight though!

Cherrysherbet · 22/01/2019 22:18

Today I’ve had...
Cheese and Tom sarnie
Baked potato, beans and cheese
Sweet potato soup
Bag of mini eggs
Apple, banana
Coffee/tea/squash

Is that normal?? I have no idea anymore.

MarcieBluebell · 22/01/2019 22:19

Nowt wrong with sarnies everyday for kids or adults.

Bread has been vilified but it can be filling and not overly calorific containing fibre. I love bread.

I take a lot of what people say on the ‘what have you eaten today’ threads with a pinch of salt (pun intended).

MN - breakfast: mashed avacado on sourdough, greek yoghurt and berries, an orange and an almond milk/banana smoothie.

RL - mug of tea and a slice of toast with butter and marmite (both stone cold by the time I had it).

MN - Lunch - roasted vegetables and salmon. Water.

RL - cheese roll, bbq hula hoops and a can of diet coke

MN dinner - steamed halibut, kale and new potatoes

RL dinner (tea) - sausages, frozen mash, frozen peas and instant onion gravy granuals (the mash and peas are obviously cooked).

MN - drinks/snacks - water, 12 pieces of fruit.

RL - drinks/snacks - 6 mugs of tea, a kit kat and four party rings

I'm munching on a packet of rolos right now and I'd say thats pretty normal. Its my supper before going to bed.
Breakfast: Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and two slices of toast with butter.
Lunch: Peanut Butter Sandwich and packet of Salt & Vinegar Crisps.
Dinner: Spaghetti Bolognaise and an apple for afters.

Bluntness100 · 22/01/2019 22:27

Everyone's normal is different. I personally don't like the competitive eating threads on here, the whole yes, yes, six donuts is a portion shit. Apparantly two beers nightly is a cardinal sin, but eating a box of Pringles and a sharing bag of maltesers is to be applauded.

So there are two sides to this extreme.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 22/01/2019 22:45

I really want a Star Bar.

I overeat some days and undereat others. I'm lazy and can't always be bothered to go out, and DD being at university makes me lazier.

I have bought a lead for the cat as apparently she is fat!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 22/01/2019 22:54

Oh and I had an entire carton of chocolate milk today.

Beats the four bottles of wine many years ago Smile

Comefromaway · 22/01/2019 23:01

Today I wasn’t at work as ds had medical appointments so a bit different than usual

Breakfast - Buttered toast & a cup of tea
Lunch - scrambled egg bagel
Tea - Turkey steak, new potatoes in skins, peas & green beans, gravy

I had a chocolate florentine at some point in the day too.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 22/01/2019 23:03

I would be very shit parent if I was giving a sandwich to my kids every lunch of the week.

That's pure gold. Grin

Throughout my childhood my school packed lunch was two sandwiches and an apple. So here's my dilemma. Does that make my mother a very shit parent? Or, since she used wholemeal bread and there was a piece of fresh fruit, does it mean she had a superior attitude and orthorexia?

Food is food.

MillieMoodle · 22/01/2019 23:18

I would say I eat on the poorer side of average.

Usually have a small glass of orange juice around 7am, cereal with milk for breakfast - weetabix/cornflakes/fruit and fibre/coco pops around 10.30am. Corned beef or cheese sandwich (shitparentwich?!) and a tomato for lunch around 12.30pm. Banana, satsuma or cereal/chocolate bar for a snack around 3ish. Dinner around 6ish - spag Bol/chilli/chicken curry/pork chops/omelette/jacket potato. Too much chocolate/biscuits once kids are in bed. Sometimes wine, but not very often.

Lots of tea throughout the day, sometimes coffee with 1 sugar. I do drink decaf but only because caffeine makes my heart race.

I don't drink enough water, I don't eat enough fruit or veg, I don't do enough exercise. I don't really eat crisps though, I can take or leave them and I'd rather have chocolate. I'm a bit overweight since having DS2 but not really happy about it and need to improve my diet but will do so by portion control, making sustainable changes and enjoying all things in moderation, rather than eating kale. I'm not going to diet if it makes me miserable!

EnoughSnowAlready · 22/01/2019 23:18

She's beautiful, Lobster.

SheldonTheWonderShlong · 22/01/2019 23:24

Woo get you amary with your lardi-da wholemeal bread. Just eat normal white bread 😄

MissConductUS · 22/01/2019 23:42

Lobster, I think I'm a human slave servant of one of her sisters.

Muffster · 22/01/2019 23:48

B: from supermarket hot buffet after dropping DS at school. Black coffee, scrambled egg, egg/veg frittata and callaloo (local greens steamed and finished off with butter and stock).

Lunch: what I normally eat for breakfast. Greek yog, chopped mango, frozen raspberries, almonds walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

Dinner: tinned salmon fish cakes made with leftover rejected DS potatoes dumped on raw spinach out of packet with blob of store guacamole and some tomatoes.

When DS goes to bed I have 2 small glasses of wine in old fashioned wineglasses which look tiny compared to the modern huge ones but I hate drinking warm white and I live in a hot country.

I don’t snack unless you count sometimes eating bits of DS leftover fruit and veg.

I think this is normal eating: vague attention to food groups, vague attempt to eat veg and or fruit with every meal, three meals a day.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 22/01/2019 23:54

It was my sister who said she was fat! Thank you. About 17 and rather lovely Smile

Lobsterquadrille2 · 22/01/2019 23:56

@MissConductUS lovely!! What's her name?

EllaDownTheLane · 22/01/2019 23:58

I eat normally, I think.
B - cinnamon squares
L - cheese and veggie bacon omelette
D - homemade chips in the air fry and veggie chilli.
S - galaxy ripple, graze flapjack, two bananas, grapes loads of water and three brews.

I’m a dog walker so 10 to 15 miles minimum of walking every single day of the week.

MissConductUS · 23/01/2019 00:01

Lobster, that lovely creature is Autumn. Here she is with her litter mate/brother, Mingus.
