..after the new home, cars, holiday. What would you buy that would make your life easier, or maybe it would be something you've always wanted but is not possible to buy now?

Mine would be a live in chef, to cook me breakfast, lunch and dinner ahhhhh ☺️ I hate cooking. It gives me rage 😠

A therapist on standby for whenever I feel anxious or need a chat to reassure me I'm ok, I'd hate to win a crazy amount though, saying that I've had a dream since I was a child that I'll win 79.6 million. Whether it will come true I highly doubt it lol but if it did I'd give £40 mill away straight away divide it all up and leave myself with about 5 million

DragonMamma · 23/01/2019 18:24

I love where I currently live but I’d probably swap it for something bigger. I’d also buy my DM a house next door.

We’d both have somebody to cook and clean for us too (I have cleaner weekly but I’d like one every day).

I’d get a personal trainer to force me to get fit. I’d send my DC to private school and get them intensive music lessons (as opposed to the once a week I can current afford).

Aside from that, I think I’d just revel in not logging in to my banking app every day!

A housekeeper and a PA

Now I've read up to my pp, there's a few things I want to add.

I'd pay for private healthcare to help take the strain of the nhs, and I'd look into what can be done for my health conditions to make my life easier (I'm in almost constant pain). It's for these reasons I'd want help around the house.

If we were talking millions, I'd put a chunk aside and I'd look for lots of local good causes and donate regularly (but anonymously).

I would go out regularly as a family to the theatre/musicals, etc, and I'd actually have a holiday for the 1st time in 10 years, and I'd make that a regular thing too.

I would buy a small holiday home in a warm climate somewhere so that I could spend the winters there, as the cold really affects my health.

I'd also anonymously (if possible) pay off my friends' and families' mortgages, and for the one that rents, I'd buy her a house with a garden, as I know she'd love that. I would also try to do that anonymously as I wouldn't want anyone to feel beholden to me, or treat me differently.

That's about it.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 23/01/2019 18:45

A tiara.

A "daily" to all the laundry and cleaning etc.
A meal planner and grocery shopper. I'm happy to cook.
A one to one ballet teacher.

Nice teeth.
A facelift.
A hair dye I'm not allergic to.
Bit vain!

A holiday house in Ireland and Greece.

ScienceIsTruth · 23/01/2019 18:56

I'd hope so, Waspnest, Smile.

That would actually be my job, although I'd enjoy it too much to call it a job! Grin

I'd buy up as many properties as I could afford, making sure I've enough left over to cover the running and maintaince costs and I'd work with the people to work out how much they need to save and then we'd plan how long it work take, and we'd keep the 'rent' affordable based on their incoming/outgoings. Eg, 1 family might be 'paying a rent' of £450, another might be 'paying' £700, with every penny going into a savings account that needs mine and their signatures to access (so both sides have peace of mind).
Depending on how many millions I'd won, I'd love to add an extra 20% or something to the total saved, as a surprise at the end of the term, so that they could achieve a lower LTV (or to account for any house price rises, inflation, etc).

Can you tell I've thought about this a lot?

BlueJava · 23/01/2019 18:58

A chef - to cook lovely interesting and tasty meals!

Waspnest · 23/01/2019 19:00

Yes I know what you mean!

kateandme · 23/01/2019 20:51

if it was the euro millions.who know on needs that much or could spend it type of money.id want to set up a mental health centre/charity that could work the way I know it could and actually help people because id have the funds they say they need or use as an excuse for not helping people!
then id like to give to my siblings for a house or future.
my mum and dad so they could retire with no worries and have the future of bliss and doing what they want.
proper care for my g-parents.
then its grateful money.where you can buy a packet of chewing gum!never mind a bloody house and holidays now :D

QuestionableMouse · 23/01/2019 20:53

I'd buy a fab bungalow for my parents and a nice house with a big garden for my sister.

I'd keep my current house and renovate it, adding a fantastic wet room and a new kitchen.

I really like my current car but might buy something newer.

KatieFinnegan · 23/01/2019 20:56

Small things...

We're 3 years in our place with no internet or TV (TV licence, Sky subscription, actual TV - all adds up)

Then maybe new cars and a house... we're simple folk Smile

pineapplebryanbrown · 23/01/2019 20:59

I'd have a consultant geriatric specialist and nursing and care team 24/7 to make my parents as well as possible.

I'd like an estate like Southfork in Dallas where we'd all have our own houses but share an enormous swimming pool and grounds.

pineapplebryanbrown · 23/01/2019 21:02

I'd have a personal chef to diet me into health whilst giving me loads to eat then a team to repair me.

Marmite27 · 23/01/2019 21:06

A ladies maid.

One that can do fancy hair, makeup, manicures and massage. I have two girls. I am fed up of demands for princess hair. The maid would have plenty of work.

goHoppity · 23/01/2019 21:07

I would love someone to do the hovering please

Lifeisabeach09 · 23/01/2019 21:14

My own house. Investments and savings.
Personal trainer, tummy tuck, regular dermatology treatments to clear
up my skin and ease the wrinkles.
Cleaner and nanny.

restingbitchfarce · 23/01/2019 21:16

I'd get a cook come cleaner come PA person to do some of the stuff I'd otherwise do

Also get a home tutor for my son who's academically bright but socially poor so is bullied badly at school and therefore will never achieve his potential in a mainstream school

Maelstrop · 23/01/2019 21:43

Personal trainer that comes every day, and then any surgery required once I was whipped into shape!

This and the stereotypical house with land so I could have the horse at home. I’d need to buy some more horses, obviously, he likes company.

The shoes thing, omg, yes, I have long wide feet and it’s a swine to find anything that fits without inserts/adjustments etc.

CrabbityRabbit · 23/01/2019 21:54

DP always gets annoyed with me during lottery win discussions as I cba discussing holidays etc. My interest is (boringly in his view) all about what I would invest in and how I would manage the money to maximise return while also salving my social justice ideas. My current fave plan is to buy a beautiful old farm house with land and run a horse lesson/horse holiday business with a significant sideline in away days/respite for children/adults with disabilities.

Another idea is a woman and children only social housing project.

I could also adopt children and hire the help/respite needed to avoid the awful situations you read about with breakdowns after lack of SS support.

Purely frivolously I might have a cleaner and a stylist. Also a pool where I could swim in the nip without being seen!

Itssadsometimes · 23/01/2019 22:49

I would meet up with the headteacher of the local primary school and tell him that the teachers and the TAs are all getting £1000 each. And the caretaker and dinner staff.

He could cancel the redundancy programme. I would fund the deficit.

I’d buy the field next to the school and make it a woodland.

It would be funded so that children’s who needed extra help would get it. The school would scrap SATS

ShowMeTheKittens · 23/01/2019 23:05

I would love to have a property I owned( not huge, just normal with a tree or two in the garden) and be able to have a rest. I would also like to help several rather unfortunate friends, and some deserving others.

mrcharlie · 23/01/2019 23:33

I would go the other way completely..a bit like Howard Hughs.

I'd get a 10 ton skip and fill it with the clutter I still can't seem to find the time to list and sell. But can't afford to give away.
Better still, I wouldn't tell a soul I'd won

As I always say, a lottery win gives one the "Three Wants"

What I Want
When I Want
If I Want

Arrogant Yes, But true.

BreconBeBuggered · 23/01/2019 23:54

Assuming a large win, my main post house spend would be to employ a driver. I hate driving, and due to illness I can't drive for long distances anyway. I'd love to decide I was going to see family and friends whenever I wanted. Since there'd be such an upturn in my social life, I'd also keep someone on a retainer to blow dry my hair whenever I wanted. It's good hair, but exhausting to get right.
