Put loo brushes in the dishwasher on their own, on hot setting, followed by a hot wash on empty??!!!

OP posts:
Moondancer73 · 22/01/2019 12:33

Yuck, just gross! Throw them away and buy new Confused

FamilyOfAliens · 22/01/2019 12:35

Rubber gloves, sponge (thrown away each time).

The idea of having a brush next to the toilet with invisible bits of faecal matter on it doesn’t appeal for some reason Grin

rachelfrost · 22/01/2019 12:35

Oh no. I can never use anything that’s come out of a dishwasher ever again.

WitchfinderGeneralHarrumph · 22/01/2019 12:35

Shitcrumbs and poo juice floating around your diswasher? JFC, I've heard it all now. Or I thought I had, until I saw a poo knife. Stop the world, I want to get off...

Loo brush for 75p here. Afterwards, pot a fucking plant in it if you're that worried.

CarrieBlu · 22/01/2019 12:35

That is disgusting.

FuckingYuleLog · 22/01/2019 12:40

Still failing to get inside the head of someone who would rather have shit in their dishwasher than on their loo brush.
What’s the point of having a sparkly clean loo brush when you’re literally going to be eating flakes of your entire families shit!
Why would you prioritise your loo brush over not eating poo!!!! I don’t understand 😭

DarkDarkNight · 22/01/2019 12:43

🤮

M3lon · 22/01/2019 12:46

I'd kinda like to round up all the ex-loo brushes belonging to the 'just buy a new one' crowd and deliver them back to their houses, and ask them to find someone to store them.

You know when you throw things away they don't magically disappear right? There is no 'away' in which to throw them.

All the loo brushes are still here on our planet with us...and their number increases by the minute. Sooner or later this kind of behaviour will become your problem, or your children's problem.

FuckingYuleLog · 22/01/2019 12:49

You don’t need to throw loo brushes away by the minutes or put them in the dishwasher! Rinse it under the flush and stick it in some bleach. You’re only going to be using it to clean shit again not to eat your dinner off, unlike your actual dinner plates that would get shit on them if you wash your loo brush in the dishwasher!

MistressoftheYoniverse · 22/01/2019 12:50

NOPE...NO...NEVER..

A loo brush is rarely used in my house, I use thick bleach to get rid of splatter and toilet wipes to clean the bowl, edges and seat toilet that can be flushed away, I also limescale once a week.

JUST NO..

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 22/01/2019 12:52

Just stick it in some bleach or disinfectant. No need to chuck it!

sollyfromsurrey · 22/01/2019 12:53

There is nothing wrong with what you suggest. Dishwashers work at extremely high temperatures and if you are running it empty afterward then it is perfectly safe. Stop being so squeamish people.

thenightsky · 22/01/2019 12:54

MistressoftheYoniverse surely wipes aren't flushable? I thought it was wipes that cause those massive fat bergs in the sewers.

sollyfromsurrey · 22/01/2019 12:55

I do find it ironic that all the people saying 'ew yuck' are perfectly happy to have a manky old loo brush that never gets washed - just sits in a fetid puddle of bleach in their bathrooms.

M3lon · 22/01/2019 12:56

to be fair I didn't actually mean people should find someone to store their ex-loo brushes in...that was a typo.

I do think we might have a different attitude to superfluous waste if we had to store it for a year in our own premises before the bin fairies magicked it 'away'.

Just think of all the dirty loo brushes you'd need to keep...maybe you could have a cupboard for those, non-resuable sanitary towels and the exciting plastic contained bubbles of nothing that poundland is currently selling for valentines day.

SlowlyShrinking · 22/01/2019 12:58

The toilet is a place for shit but the dishwasher is not

TheHorseyouRodeInOn · 22/01/2019 13:00

I just put the loo brush in the toilet and drop a Milton tablet in . Then I leave it for a few hours Smile

NutElla5x · 22/01/2019 13:01

People aren't saying they never wash their loo brush though. And even if they didn't wash it they're not likely to ingest any shit germs off it are they?

FuckingYuleLog · 22/01/2019 13:02

If I was drinking out of the ‘fetid puddle of bleach’ I’d have a problem with it. How can it be worse in your bathroom than in your dishwasher and on your plates and cutlery??
There’s certainly been times when I’ve found a bit of stray onion/sweet corn in my dishwasher. If you wash your loo brush in there it will be lumps of shit. I don’t care if they are sterilised-at-a-very-high-temperature lumps of shit it’s still lumps of shit on your crockery and cutlery that is going in your mouth. Excuse me for being all la di dah and not wanting to consume my relatives fecal matter!

bobstersmum · 22/01/2019 13:06

Fuckingyule I totally agree! Yuk!

RCohle · 22/01/2019 13:07

Buy a bamboo loo brush for £4.50 and replace as necessary surely?

www.boobalou.co.uk/plastic-free-toilet-brush.html

Momo18 · 22/01/2019 13:11

Please don't do that. It's absolutely vile. I buy Poundland toilet brushes, they come in a sealed screw on plastic container which can be filled with bleach water to soak the brush after use. You can kill any germs with bleach, you don't need hot water and you definitely don't need the dish washer. After a few months I replace mine, tbh next time it needs replacing I'm thinking of keeping the tub and screw on lid and popping a dishmatic inside with toilet cleaner in. Probably more effective to clean with and far less waster throwing out only s dishmatic head.

MistressoftheYoniverse · 22/01/2019 13:43

thenightsky I use the wipes that I use to wipe my bum with bleach/spray so they are flushable. I only use a few so I have not had problems

lifecouldbeadream · 22/01/2019 14:09

Not RTFT, but you should use cold water with bleach.....

MarthasGinYard
Grim enough to have loo brushes in your carsies

Did you mean khasi (slang for loo) or do you call cars by the cutesy name of carsies and why would you put your loo brush in one? Grin

I have always used a loo brush, current one is about fifteen years old and no way I'm adding to plastic waste by buying a new one twice a year. It's kept perfectly clean by a variety of methods mentioned above. There is zero chance of me shoving my hand down the loo.
