Put loo brushes in the dishwasher on their own, on hot setting, followed by a hot wash on empty??!!!

Hazlenutpie · 23/01/2019 18:04

Geez, just buy a new one!

Ellyess · 23/01/2019 18:04

Yes

CatherineofTarragon1 · 23/01/2019 18:06

Yes, that's minging!

Ellyess · 23/01/2019 18:07

I just buy cheap ones and when they don't look too happy I replace them. I do bleach them for a bit. Sorry Mother Earth, it's my one not-so-green area.

maureen17 · 23/01/2019 18:09

....gross!

MinecraftHolmes · 23/01/2019 18:09

I think owning and using a loo brush is less wasteful than the constant sponge-chucking-out that I would have to do to rid the loo of 3yo DD's skid marks every day. And it would mean that my hand wouldn't be at least 1ft away from it.

TaintforTheLikesOfWe · 23/01/2019 18:11

My mate has a dishwasher. Whenever I go round there now for a coffee and I see a brown lump I'm going to wonder if it's coffee grounds or poo crumbs stuck to my mug!! I will have to ask her how she cleans her loo brush now :(

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 23/01/2019 18:13

Owning a loo brush at all is gross. Putting some bleach down the toilet gets rid of most things and anything stubborn can be cleaned away with a wipe after bleach has been in there for a while.

Tinkobell · 23/01/2019 18:14

Look. Loo brushes can be covered in solid matter - poo, right? Solid matter gets stuck in the dishwasher filter. Dishwasher filters need periodically cleaning out and sometimes picking out with your fingers. It's a revolting job at the best of times removing ancient garden peas, egg and sweet corn from the filter.....but I'd fancy it less knowing poo have passed through.

EdWinchester · 23/01/2019 18:16

Loo brushes are gross at the best of times I just use bleach for any marks left leave for a while come back and its all gone

^this

I don't know anyone in rl that uses a loo brush. Or if they do, they hide them out of embarrassment Grin

Tinkobell · 23/01/2019 18:18

I jet wash all manner or gross things on the lawn. This includes the BBQ griddle covered in mold, the black manky stuff that grows in the fabric conditioner section of the washing machine and the bins in summer when they get maggoty. It's the best way, blasting it with freezing water from a safe distance.

VanGoghsDog · 23/01/2019 18:18

It's funny, I don't know anyone who doesn't use a loo brush. Though to be fair, I have no idea what my cleaner uses.

Pinotwoman82 · 23/01/2019 18:19

Eeeww I’m incredibly lax about things but even I wouldn’t think of such a thing

Xenadog · 23/01/2019 18:19

I can’t imagine how anyone could even think of this. For once, I’m speechless!

madabouttheman · 23/01/2019 18:20

Absolutely not!

VanGoghsDog · 23/01/2019 18:21

@Tinkobell

Have you considered that you would not need to pick peas, sweetcorn and egg out of your dw filter if you didn't put them in there in the first place? You know, like you're also not putting poo in.

RomanyRoots · 23/01/2019 18:24

Buy a new one or soak it in a bucket of bleach and water.

Movinghouseatlast · 23/01/2019 18:24

I bought a wooden toilet brush with proper bristles. I pour boiling water and bleach on it and in the (ceramic) holder.

BlimeyCalmDown · 23/01/2019 18:24

utterly disgusting! I hope I don't know you in real life, would hate to have dinner at your house! ;)

Tinkobell · 23/01/2019 18:24

@Vangoghs.....I live with 3 other people who don't care or think about it. I do love a really manky thread by the way 😁🤢

MummyAng · 23/01/2019 18:25

I bought some from John Lewis with spare heads, so not full wastage on plastic....

Devilinatwinset · 23/01/2019 18:25

Alternative suggestions? Don't use loo brushes. They are the most disgusting things in the world. Stick a latex glove on & clean it by hand. & if in a hard water area descale the bowl regularly. Seriously, if you clean your toilet frequently how does it get shitty enough to need a loo brush? I'm speaking as someone who cleans the loo in my household of 4 & who cleaned toilets in a pub

newmun · 23/01/2019 18:29

Gross

Doubletrouble99 · 23/01/2019 18:29

Gosh! I even wince putting the dog bowl into the dishwasher.

Pigflewpast · 23/01/2019 18:32

I use the toilet duck stick. You put a different paper end on it each time, which has the cleaner in it, which then flushes. The stick doesn’t get manky and can just clean it in the flush, with an occasional proper clean when I clean the bathroom. I can’t stand toilet brushes but this is clean and easy.
