My dh and I did this for a few days. Keto fajita bowl was one of our favourite meals. Absolutely delicious!

PointlessUsername · 21/01/2019 23:33

Thinking of going Keto.

Can i ask how much you have lost so far?

feelingverylazytoday · 21/01/2019 23:35

There's a whole board devoted to low carb diets. You'll probably find much more helpful advice there.

SkinnyPete · 21/01/2019 23:37

My top tip is fast on Keto, as its easy to do. Other top tip when not fasting, is start the day with a bullet proof coffee using MCT Oil... Brain 0-60 in about 5 minutes, and instant keto.

Fusioluxe · 21/01/2019 23:37

I always wonder about squirts cream! I could easily eat a bowl of that for a pudding but can’t work out what the carbs on the can (v low on M&S own and Anchor thick one) mean!

Fusioluxe · 21/01/2019 23:37

Squirty!

Fusioluxe · 21/01/2019 23:39

M&S bacon strips (cooked) and crackling crisps.
Boiled eggs
Grated cheese rolled up in a slice of ham

thebluearsefly · 22/01/2019 00:39

It's basically chicken, peppers, onion and lettuce. Cheese too. Google Keto fajita bowl and it's the one with the most reviews. It's unbelievable!

Forgotmycoat · 22/01/2019 00:59

Would someone kindly explain what skinnypete meant by 'brain 0-60 in 5 minutes and instant keto'? Also, how to make this sort of coffee?

SkinnyPete · 22/01/2019 01:36

MCT (medium chain triglyceride) Oil is digested and raises blood ketones very quickly. That gets shuttled to your brain and I {and many other people) experience a strong mental acuity.

I use a magic bullet juicer/blender thingy. One cup of strong coffee, tablespoon of MCT oil, wedge of butter, splash of cream, blitz it and drink it. Tastes a bit like a fatty latte.

Variations I do, is sometimes mix mct with coconut oil. Sometimes I add a pinch of salt, and have been known to drop an egg in for super frothiness. Not all the time though.

Be warned, mct can upset tummies for the uninitiated, and I'd recommend starting on a teaspoon until building up.

Puts you very quickly into Ketosis and brings a very clear focus to the mind which lasts for about an hour. Oh, and it keeps me satiated for about 10-12 hours.

Love keto. Did it for months last year and lost a bunch. Unfortunately came off for way longer than anticipated (life got in the way, big time) and put it back on. Started again yesterday - can’t wait for the mental clarity to kick in again!

I agree with the IF or OMAD - makes life easier.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/01/2019 02:15
