What do other people do the 'wrong' way

Following on from another thread my DH informed me the other night that I load the cutlery wrong in our dishwasher. It has a cutlery tray at the top and he says it's easier to put the knives on the far away side because they are easier to turn than the forks .......HmmGrin

I also have to refold half my washing if DM or MIL (kindly) fold it for me because they won't fit in nice piles with those already in the drawers Wink

This is a book fold- I think it is Anthea Turners way. She was quite annoying but her perfect housewife stuff was brilliant!

Yes ! This is it. Ok we can be friends you can fold my towels anytime.

Pegging out washing so that they are folded in half over the line.
Leaving the tap running while brushing teeth.
Flushing stuff down the loo instead of having a bin.

TatianaLarina · 21/01/2019 13:18

Our dishwasher has a cutlery tray too. We have kitchen cutlery on the right side, dining on the left, and group together - knives at front, then forks then spoons at the back.

Makes it very easy to fill and empty.

Jigsaws. Although we love doing them together, DH will not touch any of the middle pieces until the all edges are in place, and tuts and frowns when I do so.

Trainer liners - having them show so they are half in and half out looks every kind of wrong in my book! I solve this problem by wearing trainers on bare feet, in summer and winter, but lots of people tell me that's wrong too. Wink

I can feel all the passive aggressive rage with these posts. They are making me chuckle on a grey Monday.

I must be doing the dishwasher wrong ... when FIL visits he stands around correcting it for me 🤬🤬🤬
Next time he washes chicken in the sink I'll rugby tackle it out of his hands 😁

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/01/2019 13:21

Tatiana you do an exact opposite of our cutlery tray, ours is cooking stuff on the left, cutlery on the right, from the back - knives, forks, spoons tea spoons.

flumpybear · 21/01/2019 13:22

Tea / coffee stirred clockwise or anti??

I'm anti ... husband looks crack-handed doing it clockwise ...

Tinty · 21/01/2019 13:22

I do the moving from hand to hand with the cutlery too 😳 it annoys the hell out of dh! I literally can't cut anything with my left hand though so have no choice but to shuffle back and fourth 🙈

What? Surely you cut with your right hand and put the food into your mouth with the fork in your left hand?

I apparently load the dishwasher 'wrong' according to control freak DW who is blessed with the knowledge on how to do everything the 'right' way.

I bet she's right though Grin

Do you insist on overloading the dishwasher or put the plates really close together so they don't get clean?

Or my favourite bugbear face all the knives and forks points up so that if you fall into the dishwasher you will be speared through the heart by an errant breadknife? (Unlikely I know), but I wouldn't want to take the risk. Maybe my imagination is too active Smile

Gatehouse77 · 21/01/2019 13:22

I've stopped asking anyone in the family to hang out the washing for me as it just ends up with me seething whilst I rearrange it - it's not like they don't see how I hang things, are capable of removing them when needed but they can't get it right for how I want it done.

I'm particular about how to fold towels too so they fit in the cupboard efficiently - for that I simply refold.

The person who puts on the dishwasher has the last say in how it's loaded which means it's different when the 'other' person does it. We both think the other is wrong!

Bumblebee39 · 21/01/2019 13:23

I read books wrong apparently Hmm
I read a few at a time depending what "mood" I'm in so I'll often have 2 non fiction, 1 academic, 1 Novel and 1 classic novel all on the go at once, for example

Nobody understands how I remember where I am, but I do.
I rarely use book marks either, and don't turn the corner to mark where I am, only if it's a favourite page
Sometimes I write in the margins too

All I can compare it to is how other people watch tv. So, just because you're in the middle of a brilliant series doesn't mean you can't watch a film half way through or watch the news or a documentary does it? We-ell that's how I read.

I also do the housework wrong. This is something I would like to fix though. My issue is either I do nothing or I do everything. I often start multiple different jobs.

I think I just have more browsers open than other people. My internet history is thoroughly random too

flumpybear · 21/01/2019 13:23

@Tinty .... the knives in the dishwasher downwards is a thing!!! People do die .... I just cannot get mu husband to take me seriously on this subject 😳🥊

After living with a total control freak, I am loving doing everything wrong in my own house. 😄

He always actually did putting duvet covers on wrong. I don’t actually care about the technique employed, but if the end result is lumpy (really lumpy) then whatever technique you used was wrong.

CharlyAngelic · 21/01/2019 13:26

Not removing foil covers from milk carton s, coffee jars etc
Toilet roll the wrong way round , hanging down too long

This is a book fold- I think it is Anthea Turners way. She was quite annoying but her perfect housewife stuff was brilliant!

But you can't apply this to single towels, can you? Surely to small and awkward?

PixiKitKat · 21/01/2019 13:27

@thecatsthecats
My ex did the laundry only once and all he did was put it on a spin! He was so proud of himself but when I opened the door it was all dry and even the washing pod thing hadn't broken!

Tinty · 21/01/2019 13:29

Pegging out washing so that they are folded in half over the line.
But it won't dry properly.
Leaving the tap running while brushing teeth.
Waste of water, think of the environment.
Flushing stuff down the loo instead of having a bin.
This is just all kinds of wrong. Won't you think of the Children. Grin

Are you my Uni age DS?

Actually even he is known to put rubbish in/around/within a metre or so of the bin. He doesn't flush random objects.

Theansweris · 21/01/2019 13:29

I happily wear odd socks in my boots. Providing the socks aren't at all visible even when sitting down, walking up stairs etc, I don't care.

Charmatt · 21/01/2019 13:32

OH doesn't:

Load the dishwasher making economical use of the space
Put the toilet roll on the right way round
Correctly sort the recycling from the rubbish
Fold towels correctly
Iron a shirt in the right order

....I'm difficult to live with!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/01/2019 13:34

I read magazines back to front. No idea why, but always have..
Me too, IdleBetty

My DH and DS1 are both left handed. It’s painful watching them do ANYTHING 😁

DorisDances · 21/01/2019 13:35

Like a pp, I read magazines and papers back to front. I also tie my shoe laces wrong apparently!

Tinty · 21/01/2019 13:36

flumpybear

Tell your DH he is wrong from me. Grin.

I knew it was a thing! Not just my imagination.

Bumblebee39

I read books wrong apparently hmm

Me too. I have a car book, work book, lounge book and bedroom book. My DD and DS are the same. I just read whichever book depending on where I am, else I would be forever forgetting the book I am reading at work or in the car etc. It is easier just to read different books than move them.

I do however need bookmarks, else I would spend a while finding where I was when I next read whichever book. Smile
