Has anyone been to one of their parenting events? Dh thinks it will be a waste of time (one of the talks is first aid and I am already medically trained, he thinks the rest will just be sales pitches).

Thanks!

Me and DH went to one when we were expecting our first, it was lovely, there were talks about car seat legislation, first aid, nursery recommendations and external people brought in to discus things like hypnobirthing. We got a few nibbles and a bag of freebie as well as small discount on the pram we'd already decided to buy prior to being invited to the event. Definitely worth it. No hard sales, just friendly advice.

They gave us a book of vouchers and money off lots of their products, so it was worth it for that alone.

We went to the mothercare one, it was a bit awkward and was no use to me as everything that was talked about is stuff I regularly advise on at work (also a HCP). However the money off vouchers were worth wasting the 30/45mins we sat and listened for.
During the talks they didn’t actual do any sales pushes, but they don’t need to really do they, they’ve already got you in the store and you’re likely to buy something once there.
We went to M&P after, it seemed much more relaxed there compared to mothercares setup.

I would say, if you’re already going to be buying a big purchase from them, it’s worth going to get the vouchers. But it needs to be a big purchase as I don’t think the discounts started adding up until you’d spent £500+

They're brilliant! Go! We really enjoyed it and there is no pressure to buy. We really enjoyed the car seat and push chair advice.

BUT when we were ready to buy we booked an appt with an adviser in John Lewis. That was such a lovely service with a big bag of freebies at the end. We went with them as they did the pushchair and cotbed we wanted (the cot bed was exclusive to John lewis)
Enjoy OP!

Thanks everyone! Maybe I can convince him it will be alright after all!
