Brand new life

So can I ask you for your tips and suggestions for a brand new life? Lightheaded ones accepted, as current (serious) plan is to win the lottery.

Background is DH and I both work in senior "professional" type jobs. Long hours (60/70'plus hours a week), relatively stressful and potentially insecure. We have three DCs, oldest is in reception and facing a possible SEN diagnosis.

We live in London and whilst I love what it offers and we've managed to buy a house, I increasingly feel we are living to work rather than working to live. DH and I have no time together, are constantly tired and life has to be very structured to have any hope of just staying vaguely in control! Whilst we have neighbours who are nice, most of our close friends are scattered globally and there's no real community here.

I reckon DH and I could earn 20/30k on contracting work annually from anywhere globally (subject to visas etc). We'd also have about 500k to invest in a business and/ or buy a new home.

I know self employment isn't easy and that more rural communities have their challenges but surely there has to be a better way to spend our life so we can see each other and our kids more (especially if DD will need more support).

So all ideas accepted !

Moving Up North is your answer.

Perhaps even buying a completely different business and doing some outside work.

Large Northern Cities still have good transport/schools and SEN etc provision.

DH and I have a ‘dream’ of moving somewhere and having some kind of income from a holiday let or similar. Whilst we are happy to work hard and even long hours it would be great to do it together or have some flexibility in what hours we work and when. Whether that will ever happen who knows, and whether it’s rurally somewhere over here or France somewhere we are not sure
