refund for a kindle book

DD (away at university) and I both have kindles and she's in my Amazon family so she can read my kindle books.

I bought a book and decided to return it for a refund the day after. Later DD asked if I'd read it yet because it was really good, she'd seen it and downloaded it and read it but because her kindle was then offline it wasn't deleted from her kindle. I didn't know but it was one she had been wanting to read so read it immediately.

Should I buy it again so it's been paid for given that DD read it?

No one in their right mind would pay for that book again Grin

Well if you didn't want to read it, what would be the point of buying it again?

brizzledrizzle · 19/01/2019 21:15

Because DD has read it when we haven't paid for it. I wouldn't read a book and then take it back to the book shop. I'm not planning to pay for it again but part of me feels bad about that.

Well I probably wouldn't but then I wouldn't do it again (or post the how to read booka you've returned tip on the Internet either Blush)

Oops! I expect Amazon will be on to serial refunders - they must be able to see how much of a book you have read.

It was an accident though. It's not like this happened on purpose.

ColdCottage · 19/01/2019 21:20

I wouldn't stress about it, you didn't do it on purpose. If it makes you not worry then yet buy it again but as a genuine mistake I'd not feel bad. Perhaps buy another book by the same author that you wouldn't have bought before then they still get the money and if she likes that one as well then you will buy more and everyone is a winner.

Grin you feel bad that dd read a book and you got a refund, seriously let it go

OP they don't care if it's one book. They'll only penalise you if you KEEP doing it. If you do it for like 1% of your purchases you're good.

Fair enough, I'll forget about it. Given that I seem to have spent about £30 on 99p kindle books this year (I had an amazon voucher for xmas) I doubt they will be that bothered.
