Have you seen the Gillette commercial everybody is talking about? The one which list a number of negative things associated with manliness such as violence or sexual harrasment. I do not think they are wrong. Unfortunately there are menlike this but

What are the positive things you associate with manliness.

I think of
-protectiveness
-self-sacrifice
-loyality
-stoicism
-being a hard worker discipline

Not saying that women cannot have that traits. A lot of us do... but all of that are connected to a traditional male role and are positive in my mind... and with that I do not wasn’t to say that a woman traditionally could not have those virtues.

What are manly qualities?
Well basically there's just one thing - the ability to use a penis!

All other qualities are just human qualities.

To give an example: lots of men work long hours in a job they do not like very much do that their families can have a nice life.

When a woman says she's working a job she hates to provide for her family it's not seen as a positive trait for women but something they should expect to be part of the normal responsible role of being a parent, rather than some big selfless sacrifice.

Similar RE housework, a lot of women still do all the housework and work full time, they aren't given praise for this by society in general, a man washes up and the woman will be told how lucky she is and how he's a keeper, I've never heard anyone tell a bloke how lucky he is that someone else clears up after him and does all the planning and mental load for him too.

I had a stint in hospital recently and was in a ward with six women, he brought me a bag of washing and all the women apart from one thought he was a god and made comment about me "rewarding" him when I got out of hospital.

I see your point Ribbonsonabox

However, it's not about adding value to "women's" tasks. It's about recognising those tasks need to be done (house gets dirty, bellies get empty, etc) and that having a penis doesn't preclude a person from performing those tasks or being good at them.

Flyingfish2019 I want a man who is hardworking both at work and at home. There's no need to settle for either hardworking or able to cook.
