I'm exhausted! I don't know how I'm still alive.

I'm so tired i don't even know what I did today, I'll also be tired tomorrow.

I once went on holiday by myself and floated on a lilo for a week. I did nothing but float and read.

Omg that holiday is the stuff of dreams.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/01/2019 14:15

I can't remember a time where a didn't feel tired. It's getting levels of tired, so yesterday I was so exhausted I felt like I was walking around in a daze at work, today I'm not too bad but I still feel like I could sleep for hours given the chance.

Part of the problem is that both me and dp work full time in the nhs working opposite shifts so whenever we're not rushed off our feet at work we are looking after a very energetic 2 year old who doesn't sleep later than 4.30am all alone. And because of the shifts we are always busy on our days off together because we barely see each other. There's just no downtime.

HidingFromMyKids · 17/01/2019 14:17

I had a baby 10 days ago.
I cannot sleep through the day.
I forgot how hard the newborn stage is.
In the middle of the night I thought my washing pile was my oldest DD crouched on the floor.
I am sooooo tired 😴😴😴

SuziQ10 · 17/01/2019 14:19

Hi tired people like me.

I have the worst imaginable dark circles under my eyes at all times. It's quite embarrassing.
I think it's a mix of constantly feeling tired. Not getting enough sleep and not enough iron. Question is, has anyone found an eye bag concealer that works well? I use the YSL but doesn't really help. Thanks

Somewhereovertherainbow13 · 17/01/2019 14:27

My New Years resolution was to be more organised so I could go to bed earlier. 3 weeks in and I catch flu off my toddler. I now feel like crap and still can’t sleep

recently · 17/01/2019 14:31

I've been in bed for three days, unable to eat and generally feeling dreadful. Upside: today I feel much better, NOT tired and I've lost weight. Nasty winter virus = almost a holiday!

Pk37 · 17/01/2019 14:32

I’m also always tired but I’m sleeping through the night well enough and don’t have to get up too early and barely go to bed past ten .
Fed up of it

TheBrilloPad · 17/01/2019 15:33

I do think in lots of people it could be Iron/Vit D/B12 and it's worth getting checked. I was always so tired, and I had low iron and regular supplements would never have touched the sides (something like 14mg a day in a regular multivitamin, and I needed 200mg twice a day).

But now my levels are all fine, I'm not that tired. And I'm a single parent of three kids under 5, one of which is a non-sleeping baby. So I would definitely encourage any tired people to get a full work up done.

JaneJeffer · 17/01/2019 16:18

I think I've been tired for my whole life and it's just sheer stubbornness that keeps me going!

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2019 16:22

Not right now.
Often am but that's just hectic life/too little aleep

pineapplebryanbrown · 17/01/2019 16:35

In the middle of the night I thought my washing pile was my oldest DD crouched on the floor

That's hilarious, laundry as hallucination!

I have been homeless and sleeping rough. That's a whole new level of tired. I was so tired I used to sleep and dream whilst still awake, the weirdest feeling ever. I was completely stunned with tiredness.

BBInGinDrinking · 17/01/2019 17:33

I think joy makes a very good point about there being different levels of tired, and different reasons for tired. It sounds like chronic or acute sleep deprivation at that time, rather than 'just' being tired.

If you're reading this, joy, I hope things are much better for you now.

Laslo · 17/01/2019 17:48

I think we all know there are different levels of being tired and different reasons for being tired, some incredibly serious and tragic.

I think most of us also know this is a fairly flippant thread.

lubeybooby · 17/01/2019 17:56

I am at the moment due to illness but usually I have a lot of energy and feel mentally awake

was 'tired all the time' (an actual syndrome) until I sorted out vitamin d and b12 issues, plus pro and prebiotics

BBInGinDrinking · 17/01/2019 17:59

I would like to join the no talking floating on a lilo holiday, (NTFOALH). I would like a little villa and pool all to myself though, like thigh had, but it would be nice if all the neighbours were also properly tired and worthy mumsnetters on NTFOALHs. Bursaries would be available so that everyone could come based on tiredness need, not income. Swimsuits optional. What one wears floating silently on one's own private lilo in one's own private villa's pool is one's own business. I would start off wearing my usual hello mummy big sensible pants swimsuit and modesty sarong, but who knows after a few days?

We would be like a cult, silently floating on our lilos. Or an art instillation.

KlutzyDraconequus · 17/01/2019 17:59

The last few months I seem that have become a vampire.
I have to be up in the morning to do school run, feel like death with exhaustion all day, sun goes down and time for bed and suddenly im wide awake.

Tried to combat this last night, took a bit of porridge and honey to bed at 10.30, put my earphones in and lay down about 11pm, listened to Enigma... The whole album.. twice.. gave that up and just lay there..
I swear the easiest time for me to fall asleep is about 30minutes before the alarm or as soon as it's gone off.

Wateringhole · 17/01/2019 18:06

According to my Fitbit sleep tracker I had 51 minutes of deep sleep last night Confused

ChasedByBees · 17/01/2019 18:08

I am not not tired. I’ve been tired for 7 years now and I think I’ve aged 17 years in that time.

planespotting · 17/01/2019 18:10

I used to think I was so tired a few years back
Then I had DC Confused
Fuck me
Is this is forever?

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/01/2019 18:12

I have no idea why I'm so tired as I'm not even working at the moment. I think I slept badly last night as I had a job interview earlier today and was fretting about it. Now it's over and I'm still fretting.

All very weird as I'm getting a good 3 hours sleep a night more than I get when I'm working. I guess when I work, I'm so jacked up on adrenaline and caffeine (my job is quite pressurised) that it means I power through the tiredness. Clearly all this 'being relaxed' stuff is bad for me and makes me sleepy. Wink

When I have an income again, one of the first things I will do is book a long weekend in Morocco. It's my go-to de-stress escape. I stay in a lovely hotel in the Atlas Mountains which has a fabulous restaurant and very friendly owners, but during the day the grounds and pools are pretty much deserted. I take tons of books and I just lie in the sun and read. Occasionally I may take a dip in the pool. The lovely staff bring me water and an ice bucket. I literally do nothing. There are no TVs (although there's a private cinema you can book) but there's a spa. It's amazing. It takes me 3 days to wind down but by Day 4, I feel like a different woman. I want to go back there so badly right now to get away from this miserable English weather!

BBInGinDrinking · 17/01/2019 18:16

X post with Laslo. Not sure why Laslo felt the need to post just to have a go at someone? With tiredness often comes irritability, and I think Laslo has demonstrated perfectly why they are worthy of a NTFOALH. Grin

MuddlingMackem · 17/01/2019 18:19

@KlutzyDraconequus

I swear the easiest time for me to fall asleep is about 30minutes before the alarm or as soon as it's gone off.

I tend to hit the tiredness wall around 2 or 3pm. If I could just go to bed for 8 hours uninterrupted sleep then I'm sure I'd feel so much better in even a couple of weeks. But of course that's just before school is out, so the start of the worst time of the day - even with secondary age kids.

Yearinyearout · 17/01/2019 18:33

I am always bloody tired. No matter what time I go to bed I'm always up with the lark and by mid afternoon I'm knackered. That Greek holiday sounds incredible...I fantasise about going away on my own, leaving my phone at home and just floating about with a book in between naps. I've now added a hunky Greek takeaway guy to the fantasy 😬

Nuffaluff · 17/01/2019 18:44

I’ve improved my sleep by doing dry January. Really surprising as I didn’t drink much before. Maybe five nights a week but only 1-2 units per night. I’m sleeping more deeply and having a lot more dreams. I feel much fresher in the mornings. I felt tired all day before. (Must admit I’m tired now it’s the evening).
I’m seriously considering only drinking once a week when January finishes, so cutting back to about two units per week. And I love beeer!
