Windows laptop. Virus? Opens MS Edge

Ok, so this is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it's finally doing my nut in enough to post about it. I have a Windows laptop.
Whenever I try to log in, I have to first click on a link to some geographical knowledge site. So I log in, and my laptop automatically opens up Microsoft Edge with a webpage about whatever the fuck shite they had on their page before I could log in.
Is this on everyone's laptop or have I somehow downloaded a virus of some sort? It's been like this for about a year.

The photos of the Taj mahal and some sand dunes and aerial photos of islands or some such?

Ah no you don't have to click that link. If you double tab the background (not a link) it'll give you the sign in box.

It's opening Edge as that's the default browser for Windows, and because you told it to go to that link by clicking on it Smile

Just click elsewhere on the background screen.
I know exactly what you mean, happens to me if I click on the link rather than just somewhere else

Oops, Tab = click (or tap, I tap the touchmouse to do it)
