Lone Pine Series by Malcolm Saville
But I could make a good shot at Enid Blyton's famous Five/Adventure series/secret series; books by Monica Edwards; Chalet School Series
and a few others.

londonmummy1966 · 15/01/2019 15:39

@Graphista - me too - when they had a round on Lady Jane Grey I got all the answers right - just goes to show the varying standard as 2 weeks previously they had had Wolsey and I couldn't get half of them!

Petitprince · 15/01/2019 15:41

British motorways
Peonies
Cheeses

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 15/01/2019 15:43

The life and works of Kylie Minogue.

Elderflower14 · 15/01/2019 15:46

I'm seriously thinking of applying. Specialist subjects are Wilfred Owen, LS Lowry, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Joyce Grenfell....

Bloodybridget · 15/01/2019 15:47

Alison Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Out For comic strips and Antonia Forest's novels (I know there are many experts on the latter).

lunicorn · 15/01/2019 15:49

It used to be Billy Bunter books and the Bible.
Might be wine now.

Curioushorse · 15/01/2019 15:50

My husband has been on. He had to submit a list of, I think, 9 topics in order of preference. I’m fairly sure they chose maybe his 5th and gave him 6 week’s notice.

This was the case with all the competitors in his round. I found that really interesting, because i’d always assumed the topics were something the competitors were genuinely passionate about. Nope!

DarlingNikita · 15/01/2019 15:51

Paul Bettany, the life and times.

pixilatedpenguin · 15/01/2019 15:52

Oh and motorway service stations between Bristol and Manchester

VampirateQueen · 15/01/2019 15:58

The Walking Dead (the tv show, not the comics)

Doctor Who (from David Tennant onwards)

Paw Patrol

The Nightmare before Christmas

Micheal Myers (from the Halloween films, not the actor)

Knowivedonewrong · 15/01/2019 16:00

Star Wars.

agnurse · 15/01/2019 16:10

True crime, with a special interest in historical true crime and torture methods.

(Before anyone gets worried: this is PURELY theoretical. I do not and never will torture or kill ANYONE. I'm a nurse by trade. I suspect this may be the reason I find these things fascinating - they are the complete antithesis of my work.)

April2020mom · 15/01/2019 16:12

Just one more thing... Columbo!

pineapplebryanbrown · 15/01/2019 16:39

Some of these are very "niche" (lunatic).

Glad to see I'm not the only serial killer MM - specialist subject Ted Bundy.

Swallows and Amazons

Sea areas ie. Fairisle Faroe Forties Cromerty

Verbena37 · 15/01/2019 16:47

1.Outlander
2.ARFID
3.ASD
4.MINECRAFT (from infiltration of the kids)

DontCallMeCharlotte · 15/01/2019 16:57

Junctions of the M25.

Love that - could probably give it a fair crack of the whip myself as well.

Mine would be the Eurovision Song Contest and, if I got through, Jilly Cooper novels. I may also steal Verbena37's Outlander round in the unlikely event I got to the final.

My cousin was on it years and years ago. He pissed the specialist subject round (life and works of Thomas Hardy). Crashed and burned in the general knowledge round (although I think that's quite easy now).

AdaColeman · 15/01/2019 17:20

Elderflower Joyce Grenfell, what an interesting life she had!

"George! Don't do that!" Smile

ALongHardWinter · 15/01/2019 17:33

Cats.
Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine novels.
80s music.
