MamaHechtick · 15/01/2019 12:21

A good one to try is chickpea curry with cauliflower rice. It does make you windy but so filling and delicious.

choppolata · 15/01/2019 12:27

@primoestate me too, I am doing a Gujarati recipe with yellow split peas

recklessruby · 15/01/2019 12:59

Can we have dinner and pudding?
Takeaway pizza and angel delight Smile

Made this for tomorrow's lunch and dinners

YANBU
I love daal.
But if I make a big pot I can't stop at one portion and want to eat it all. Have not made it for years though. Will try these recipes. Thanks.

PerkingFaintly · 16/01/2019 18:55

Hmm. I've just made the entire 500g packet's worth of daal, and can attest that a 3-to-1 water ratio makes very liquid daal.

I like my porridge of "cut it with a knife" variety, and daal likewise.

Some adjustment needed...

Lisabel · 16/01/2019 18:59

I lived on Dhal in hospital for quite a long time! It was the only veggie option. I can't say I love it but yours might be better!

I could live on pasta (any shape and wholemeal/white) with arrabbiata sauce or med veg sauce.

PerkingFaintly · 16/01/2019 19:05

Also, people who are fridging or freezing daal, do you make a fresh tarka for each time you serve some, or do you fold it in and freeze the lot?

lastqueenofscotland · 16/01/2019 19:06

God no YANBU food of the gods with some chapatti and rice

TinselAngel · 18/01/2019 14:17

Inspired by this recipe I made daal for the first time. IT WAS SO TASTY!

I used this recipe (used tinned tomato not fresh), I now have eleventy billion extra portions left over Smile

I love daal. I went on holiday to Sri Lanka once and ate daal twice a day, every day. I did eat other things as well, but my DCs couldn't believe my capacity for daal-eating. Funnily enough I rarely make it, need to fix that.

TinselAngel · 18/01/2019 14:28

Grrr "inspired by this thread" not "inspired by this recipe" Angry

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 18/01/2019 14:33

Donner kebab with mayonnaise, tahini sauce and salad. But unfortunately I have 5 stone to lose ( 1 stone down) so the kebabs were the first thing to go😞
Or a chicken burger I get from a takeaway that is pulled chicken on a brioche bun smothered in bbq sauce.

TinselAngel · 18/01/2019 20:38

The farting has started 😱

Ohgoon · 18/01/2019 20:44

Apple crumble and vanilla ice cream

Anothermothersusername · 18/01/2019 20:45

I do love daal. There is a cafe that was going to open in my town selling a limited menu and daal was one of the items listed. Not sure if it was of any success or not though

pouraglasshalffull · 18/01/2019 20:45

I would love a Daal every night!! It would be that or a a lasagna. Have a soft spot for lasagnas too!

Mummyshark2019 · 18/01/2019 20:47

Any Chinese food.

CottonSock · 18/01/2019 20:51

There is a Krishna cafe in my high st. I could eat there every day (except that they are so bloody slow). Might get the book, as even my fussy kids love daahl

Itssosunnyout · 19/01/2019 00:50

Don't just eat daal there are lots of other vegan indian foods you can make. Sholay (chick peas) rajma( kidney beams)
you need to vary your diet too so make veggie ones

Ps I do love daal.

HoraceCope · 19/01/2019 10:00

sholay, appears to be also known as Chana masala

OP posts:
PerkingFaintly · 19/01/2019 16:21

OMG chana masala. If I were trapped on a desert island with tins of only one food to last the rest of my life, this would be it.
