My DH last night said his sick of his wedding ring and want to change it. I really don’t want him to. However we are out with friends and they all think it’s fine for him to do it. I think he should keep the ring we got married with on him for his whole life. AIBU?

I’ve been married to the same man for 25 years.i am on my third wedding ring, and sometimes hanker after a replacement. I have kept them all but fashions change, and I am not sentimental.

DH and I both have non-original wedding rings. He broke the first one on our honeymoon (!) and mine snapped into three pieces when I was clapping at a gig. Our second. wedding rings are far nicer than the first ones and our marriage is still intact Smile.

I'd be far more worried if he suddenly stopped wanting to wear a wedding ring after years of wearing one ...!

My husband doesn’t wear his ring. He doesn’t find it comfortable. He put up with it for about two years and never bothered since. I don’t care! I often wear my eternity ring instead of wedding ring/engagement ring set. One of his brothers is the same actually, must run in the family

When DH and I got married, we hardly had any money, so my ring cost £34 from H.Samuel. I still keep it but since then DH bought me a different ring. I think your husband should do what he wants to do. It doesn't change how he feels about your marriage presumably. A different ring certainly didn't change my feelings.

I should add - we’ve been married 12 years so he’s been 10 heats without wearing one and we’re still married

DH never wore his wedding ring,
manual job means he couldn't really and always tends to have sore hands.

He had it melted down and made into a ring for me for Christmas (with some pretty emeralds and diamonds addedGrin)

Maybe do that with yours, get it melted down and re-made into a new style that he likes better? It's not as expensive as you'd think.
