To feel more sad for Landeover employees than Andy Murray

Blankscreen · 12/01/2019 01:24

On the day that 000s of redundancies are announced at JLR I can't feel sad for a Millionaire sportsman who has had to retire due to his own body as opposed to someone else making the decision for him.

The new coverage of the two stories has really irritated me.

Does anyone else feel like this?

OP posts:

Crying is ‘unbritish’ Grin

Jeanclaudejackety · 12/01/2019 12:39

He is annoying. His face alone pisses me off. I actively avoid anything he is on.

MrsWillGardner · 12/01/2019 12:59

@ThroughThickAndThin01

......one of them is on an exceptional wage that they wouldn’t be able to get in any other role. Not the point of the op, but maybe there lies the problem with Land Rover

No not the point of the op, but AM won’t need to worry about losing his home or providing for 4 children because he won’t need to find a new job on the same salary.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 12/01/2019 13:00

Yet this the second time you've posted on a thread about him so hardly actively avouding him or any discusion of him

Helmetbymidnight · 12/01/2019 13:14
Grin She sees a thread with Andy Murray in the title and actively avoids it.

(By actively avoid she means she feels compelled to go on it to state her unremarkable opinions.)

Jeanclaudejackety · 12/01/2019 13:21

Andy Murray groupies crack me uppp 😂🤣

Obviously attracted to ugly men with stick legs and no personality, might explain all the posts on here from people unhappy with their partners if that's what they go for

Helmetbymidnight · 12/01/2019 13:22

Three posts and counting. Grin

Jeanclaudejackety · 12/01/2019 13:22

Bwahahahha borrrrriing

Helmetbymidnight · 12/01/2019 13:25

This is you actively avoiding something?

GottenGottenGotten · 12/01/2019 13:28

Yeah, it's entirely impossible that people might have admiration for someone's sporting prowess and not actually fancy them.

That's the kind of attitude of a 15 year old to be honest..

Not that I agree with your description JeanClaude. I hope you are a stunner because your attitude is deeply unattractive.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 12/01/2019 13:42

Obviously attracted to ugly men with stick legs and no personality,

Im not attracted to him at all i dont look at wgat he looks like i pay attention to his skill and craft in playimg a game.

Its fine not to like tennis or him but you say yiu actively avoid anything to do with him if this you actively avouding something i'd hate to see you being outspoken about something you care about

LoisWilkerson1 · 12/01/2019 14:01

Yes being wimmin folks we must admire him because we fancy himHmm

Honestly, he's a great tennis player, it's possible to admire great tennis without fancying the player concerned. I don't find AM the least bit attractive, but I do love watching him play tennis.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 12/01/2019 14:19

He is annoying. His face alone pisses me off. I actively avoid anything he is on.

And yet he's so lovely about you! He says that of all the random internet trolls that write shit about him online, you're his very favourite! And your face only pisses him off a little, but he knows you won't mind that, because you're such a big-hearted human being and not at all mean-spirited or bitchy.

Shockers · 12/01/2019 14:25

Both situations are very sad.

I think part of his misery is the constant pain he lives with.

dudsville · 12/01/2019 17:14

If you only have a limited amount of sympathy and compassion then you do have to make these kinds of choices.

starzig · 12/01/2019 17:32

The 2 stories are not related. Is it really inconceivable that someone could have interest in both.

CurtainsOpen · 12/01/2019 17:34

I think part of his misery is the constant pain he lives with.

Aye, it's hard being Scottish

FayFortune · 12/01/2019 17:35

I read that he is in constant pain. If that's true he has my sympathies too.

AmIthatbloodycold · 12/01/2019 17:41

Great post OP.Hmm

it is ludicrous to compare the two. He even talked about having another op, not for tennis but to have a decent quality of life. Perhaps he'd swap his money for that in an instant

TeenageAngst if you knew anything about tennis you would know that they're contractually obliges to do these press conferences. And there is NOTHING wrong with showiyhis emotions. He is well known for wearing his heart on his sleeve

Jean Claude you're hilarious. Keep it up

Why do some people hate Any Murray? It's really odd. I don't follow sport and have no strong opinion either way but when I've seen him on the news he's just seems like a pleasant enough man who was at least at one point good at tennis. He hasn't expressed any terrible opinions as far as I'm aware, I couldn't care less what he looks like but he seems neither particular hansom or particularly ugly. I just don't get why he could ilicit such a negative response that people seem to seek out discussions about him to tell everyone how much they dislike him. Bizarre behaviour.

brizzledrizzle · 12/01/2019 18:20

YABU to compare them. Its an awful situation for both - Andy Murray is in pain whenever he plays and from what I've read it won't be just giving up competitive tennis but giving up playing tennis altogether. Both are facing life changing situations which are horrible, though having Murray's money will no doubt cushion the blow considerably.

gamerwidow · 12/01/2019 18:23

Why do some people hate Andy Murray?
It's because he had the temerity to like being Scottish more than being British.
I'm not a tennis fan and have no strong feelings about him but he does seem to me to be one of the good guys.
He has always been supportive of women's sport and seems like a pretty genuine bloke.
