Should school have noticed?

That my DD age 6 has cut her own hair?

She’s came home with a fringe! Confused Noone mentioned a thing and she confessed to everything and said she binned the hair she “accidentally” cut off

I feel a bit shocked the teacher didn’t notice but understand how busy schools can be

Depends. Did she sit at her desk and do it? Or did she pocket a pair of scissors and sneak off to the loo?!

Dd has very long ringlet-curl hair, it was tied and sprayed back into pigtails with no loose hairs and definitely didn’t have a fringe when she left for school Blush It is very noticeable imo but then again she’s my DC

She claims she accidentally caught her hair in her scissors during lesson time... so yeah at her desk but by the look on her face it certainly wasn’t an accident Grin

Playing devils advocate here - even if they had noticed what would you have expected them to have done.
She's 6, old enough to not need one to one supervision with scissors. It takes seconds for someone to do a hack job on hair. How many people have toddlers who've done.
It would be very reasonable for a teacher not to notice her doing it until it was done.
Once noticed, what should they have done. You (her parents) would obviously notice it when she got home, sending a note home seems pointless.
Telling off perhaps, but different families will have different ideas about the responses to hair cutting.
At most a mild, don't do that seems reasonable. But at the same time if she was doing it lessons to distract people, not giving her the attention or acknowledgement is also an appropriate strategy.

I agree with negomi all they could have done was tell her that it's best not to cut your own hair when you're a child.

It's her hair.
