I'm new here and I've notice that quite a few posters change their name on here so they're not sussed out I guess?

Does any of your friends and family know that you use mumsnet? Or do you not even mention it in case your baiting yourself out

Yep. I’ve had some random surreal conversations with various friends about it. I recommend the Xmas bargain thread to anyone who’ll listen. Utterly unashamed. But slightly inclined to overshare in real life so there’s nothing on here that would make me die inside if I was outed.

Dh and dc have gathered I'm here. No-one else knows and on the rare occasions I've sounded anyone out in a general way they invariably think forums are full of axe murderers weird.

I am also dyslexic, lots of my posts will be well crafted as I preview, re-read and edit sometimes several times, and often still make an error.
It can take time usually to avoid smart arses like your self.

A fair few people know I’m on here but I think only my DH knows my username.

I recognised my brother a few years back posting about issues with his partner but never recognised anyone else.

God no, I'm in a different country where most people have never even heard of mumsnet. I namechange often because I add personal information to my posts and once there is enough personal information you're easy to find and to hack. It's basic internet safety to keep your privacy.

This is how you’d name change on the mobile site:

Look for the icon of the person at the top right of the page.
Select the “settings” option.
That should take you to your account.
Find the box containing your username.
You can now type in a new username. It needs to be a unique one but IIRC it flags it up if someone else already has that username.
To confirm the name change, put in your password and select “save account details”

And done! New username

They know i always talk about it but this is my 'public' account and I name change a lot.

I think there's probably only about 6 of us in reality.

I once spotted someone on here talking about their DC’s school and giving enough very specific detail for me to identify it as my DC’s school.

Their DC were in a different year to mine though, so it wasn’t someone I’d have known if I bumped into them in real life.

I did wonder if mumsnet post only certain things for around your location as when I try to refresh for new stories they don't come up. Unless I just don't know how to use app properly or if the app has only limited access ?

I tell loads of people I am on Mumsnet BUT not my user name.
I have changed it a couple of times for Christmas , Halloween , etc , and for the start of the New Year but always have Charly in it .

I live outside the UK. Whenever I see or hear a woman with a British accent, I look at her really closely thinking that she must be a mumsnetter.
The only mn-er I actually know is the person who recommended it to me 12years ago.

And of course everybody in my house knows that I’m on mn.
