...to think it's time for another Freezer Roulette thread?

I've just dug out of the depths of ours a tub labelled Bolognaise. The bottom of it does look bolognaisey, but the top is covered in chopped potato, or courgette, or SOMETHING...

Am thawing it out for dinner. At least we have plenty of eggs if it's a disaster.

Anybody else?

I'm doing this, which feels wrong given all the 'stockpiling for Brexit' threads, but I'm sick of all the random tubs crammed in there.

I had some rather nice lentil soup the other day, as well as some other soup that was parsnip when I thought it was lentil (I don't label, so it's a real freezer roulette round here).

Trouble is that, as fast as the gaps appear, I spot supermarket bargains to fill them

Ooh, we’re having one of these for supper! It’s either bolognese or chill. Trying to figure out whether one particular bit is a kidney bean or a bit of tomato before I get rice/pasta on the boil.

we were supposed to go itemise all the freezer stuff today, but we had a wood delivery instead

Might do it in before supper, I am cooking real food for tonight since last night was almost a freezer bingo disaaaaaaaaaaaaaster!

Three tubs that I thought were all the same turned out to be a naked cottage pie and two venison and mushroom pie fillings.
I had a giant tub of mash as well so I defrosted that, added a fucktonne of cheese and smothered it over the top of the mince in one bowl and the venison in another

All very delicious!

I am going to bring all the home made leftover tubs into the kitchen freezer and work through them no matter what!

@EssentialHummus play it safe and have a baked potato instead - works with both chilli and bolognaise.

I went through my freezer the other day and found 11 individual pork chops I’d bagged and frozen, but god knows when.

I agree with the baked spuds idea - you can get away with a lot if you serve it with baked spuds!

My MIL once served something she'd found in the freezer with roast lamb. She didn't know what it was, but thought it would go with the meat as it appeared to have courgette slices in it.

As it turned out, it also contained fish...!

I tend to freeze in individual portions and invariably end up with a mixture which is affectionally known as chilognese. 😄

I’ve just thrown out a load of bags of random unlabelled orangey mush to make way for some actual real food from Asda that will get eaten.

They did not spark joy.

We had this the other night thought we had 2 pork lasagne turned out to be one lasagne, one chicken pie. Me and Dh had half each they were surprisingly good together Grin

Snap SaucyJack! Lovely to know exactly what everything is but as another poster said, I have already started filling it up with "bargains" and unlabelled bags of stuff
