If you work part time and have children? How much money do you have spare each month after paying for childcare, travel etc?

I’m trying not to be a SAHM mum and have a couple of little jobs earning me £200 every month. Trying to figure out if it’s actually worth returning to work once I’ve paid for after school clubs, childcare etc. Both children are school age.

I'm really lucky I have a job that allows me to work 30 hours over 3 days to reduce nursery costs. I also work from home for 2 of those days so not much travel cost. Saying that, two thirds of my monthly income goes on nursery fees.

After childcare for my school age children I have about £1000 term time - less in the holidays. It was a lot tighter when they were preschool but I definitely think works pays financially since the youngest went to school
