To think you don’t bloody sneeze in public?Probably get flamed for this but I absolutely detest people sneezing openly in public. It spreads germs and it’s NOT THAT HARD to internally sneeze as in like hold yourself back when you sneeze!

What about you hygiene pet peeves?

Another one is LICKING THE SUPERMARKET BAGS....why?! Why would I want you to slurp on your finger and then use your saliva to lubricate my bag and then continue to put my fresh produce into said bag. EW EW EW.

PS. Don’t say people can’t help sneezing, because unless you are challenged in someway , you ABSOLUTELY can.

AnyFucker · 11/01/2019 14:35

If anyone is interested I can stop myself sneezing altogether by firmly pressing the indentation between my nose and top lip

Otherwise, sneeze away everyone I am not remotely bothered

missmouse101 · 11/01/2019 14:37

If you pinch your nostrils together, it usually stops the sneeze sensation immediately. But sneezes are better out than in for sure!

StarrySky7 · 11/01/2019 14:48

If I tried to internally sneeze I think I would pass out or blow up.

StarrySky7 · 11/01/2019 14:49

However, saying the word 'cabbage' stops you sneezing! It really does work.

YouCanCallMeJodieWho · 11/01/2019 15:05

OP you are wrong about holding in sneezes. Read some of the many links people have put on your bonkers thread. Sneezing is not 'rude'. It's a naturally bodily function. In your world I'd never be able to leave the house or keep down a job!

I have allergies which make me sneeze violently all year round. I'm medicated all year round too. Just makes it less bad.

I always have tissues with me but sometimes the sneeze is so sudden and so violent I can't get to them in time. Apart from when I have the lurgy I'm spreading no more bugs them everybody else is from walking around!

It's pretty shit having allergies this bad, and the sneezing can really hurt. A little empathy wouldn't go amiss.

GlitterStick · 11/01/2019 15:07

I now need a sneeze to come along just to see if saying "cabbage!" stops it.
DH will think I've proper lost it, but hey, I'm already halfway there already lately lol

Loyaultemelie · 11/01/2019 15:11

You would hate my loud make the cats jump to the point of almost back flipping shouty sneeze Dh. (Actually and Df come to think of it) (so do I but more for the noise than the actually sneezing)

Loyaultemelie · 11/01/2019 15:11

Note he always used a tissue or elbow though

ree348 · 11/01/2019 15:25

You've obviously been doing a bit too much internal sneezing as it's affected your brain cells.

Topseyt · 11/01/2019 15:25

What the hell would some people make of cat or dog sneezes?

My labrador is a power house sneezer. He doesn't use a handkerchief, nor does he sneeze daintily into his hand or elbow. He just erupts. Sometimes he manages to look a bit shocked afterwards

Roussette · 11/01/2019 15:32

You can't argue with science and medical profession.

Doctors advise not to pinch your nose closed for sneezes.
"Halting sneeze via blocking nostrils and mouth is a dangerous manouvre," the report recommended. It "should be avoided, as it may lead to numerous complications."

Makes sense to me.

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2019 16:36

I still argue you can sneeze internally without snot and germs spraying all over the joint!!! You close your mouth and just sneeze - try it!!!!!!!

Have you read your own thread OP?

People have given lots of reasons and examples of why this is a dangerous thing to do.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 11/01/2019 16:43

No it doesn't. Say I and many allergy sufferers who are well seasoned sneezers.

OP I have done internal sneezing and damaged my eardrum in the process. The claims upthread about potential brain damage are well-founded judging from your OP.

PortiaCastis · 11/01/2019 16:50

My Mums dog sneezed yesterday and I was standing near her it was like the north wind right up my chuff.

Solasshole · 11/01/2019 17:06

Are you one of those people who disinfects the living daylights out of every single thing in their lives because oh no, the germssss, op?

Unless you are immunocompromised the occasional exposure to pathogens in the environment is good for you. People living in hypersterile bubbles is atrocious for your immune system. Recentish research demonstrated a link between children growing up in hypersterile environments being more likely to develop leukaemia (especially ALL). Allergies have long been suggested to be associated also with hypersterile environments.

Your immune system needs the occasional challenge to make sure it works properly op, sterilizing the crap out if everything and not giving your body a chance to encounter anything foreign just makes to confused and dysfunctional. It's not the end of the world if a toddler puts a spoon that touched the floor into their mouth and it's probably better for them anyway

Lisabel · 11/01/2019 17:12

I agree- if you have to sneeze, sneeze into a tissue or if you don't have one available then either suppress the sneeze or direct the sneeze into the groove of your arm (the area opposite your armpit) so that you don't get cold/flu germs on your hands to spread to others.

My hygiene pet peeves are people leaving the house when clearly unwell with viruses i.e. if you're ill enough to be expelling viral particles (sneezing, coughing openly, vomiting or have diarrhoea that you might need to use a public toilet for) then you're too ill to be away from home. Also people who do not wash their hands after using the toilet or before preparing food or eating.

Lisabel · 11/01/2019 17:13

* opposite your elbow, not armpit!! oops!

LoniceraJaponica · 11/01/2019 17:14

Grin @AndhowcouldIeverrefuse

artisanscotcheggs · 11/01/2019 17:16

Oh for fuck's sake.

People need to sneeze. This is what tissues and covering your face is for. Don't be so ridiculous.

Karigan195 · 11/01/2019 17:18

You cannot be serious. It’s not safe to hold a sneeze

OutPinked · 11/01/2019 17:19

I sneeze into the crutch of my arm. It isn’t always possible to ‘internally sneeze’ Hmm and do you expect children to do that too? I teach mine to sneeze how I do, it’s the most hygienic way.

Yearofthemum · 11/01/2019 17:22

People should not sneeze internally, but should use tissue or their own hand. Especially in the winter, when it's easy to transfer bugs.

Andjustlikethat · 11/01/2019 17:22

Lisabel people do still go to work and school with coughs and colds, they generally do not render you ill enough to take time off Hmm

NewNameNewGame19 · 11/01/2019 17:24

My hygiene pet peeve is letting kids stand in supermarket trollies that I have to put food in. No excuse. There are seats FFS.

JustAboutGettingBy · 11/01/2019 17:26

Hmm really?Confused
