Anniversary present

Sorry, posting here for traffic.

Lovely mumsnetters, please save my ass once again!

An important anniversary in our relationship is coming up and I would like to buy him a meaningful, not tacky, perhaps even useful, symbolic, not too expensive gift for this occasion.

I have absolutely no clue what to get as we're not big fans of engraved stuff, photo frames (we already have them and chose together what to put in them+decluttering year so no), photo albums etc.

Budget about £50?

About him: he is a software developer, loves outdoors (hiking specially), wears casual but stylish clothes.

Thank you❤️🙏🏻

Subscription to Trail magazine and good walking socks would have my husband giddy with happyness (fairly dull though).

proseccoaficionado · 10/01/2019 18:43

Walking socks. Getting those. Thank you @Disfordarkchocolate

Please keep them coming!!

Some sort of watch or compass for hiking?

katykins85 · 10/01/2019 18:47

A google search has just told me that hiking watches are a thing

LoisLittsLover · 10/01/2019 18:47

A guide or book to local walks thatyou could do together plus a voucher for a pub along the way for lunch?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/01/2019 18:47

Decent hiking rucksack? Garmin type watch?

proseccoaficionado · 10/01/2019 18:47

I've done both the watch and the rucksack😡😡😡😡😡😡

Merino buff: lightweight, cosy, packable. I use mine for running and hiking.

Also love merino baselayers for running and hiking: temperature regulating and non-stinky.

One of these either for where you live (someone did this for our wedding and it’s fab for planning Sunday stomps) or for somewhere meaningful to you both (where you got engaged/married?)?

CantWaitToRetire · 10/01/2019 18:53

Swiss Army knife/multi-tool type thing engraved with his name.

proseccoaficionado · 10/01/2019 18:54

@Verbena87 we're not married just yet, but I could do the first date place. I'm not in the Uk so I'm looking up just now where to find one of those here with quick delivery because I'm so dumb and been under so much stress lately and I forgot the anniversary is coming up🙄

Do you have Etsy? They're good for customised map gifts, I got some cufflinks with a small section of the map for the place we live in for my husband one year. Went down very well

Verbena87 · 10/01/2019 21:02

Ah sorry, I didn’t read your post properly. Etsy is a good thought for map related gifts!
