Cancun! Zika Help

Fuckingcancunttc · 10/01/2019 01:15

Post for traffic and to ask for help.

I'm recently had a MMC and am struggling to process or move on from it etc, however we are still TTC (or will be once my cycle returns)

DH suggested a last minute holiday ,(next week) , so I sat down searched a few places and I've just booked Cancun All inc , water park etc
Told DS when collected him from nursery, all very excited.

Came to bed and it hit me that it's a zika destination!

I work in the industry so most buys can be cancelled but will lose a bit of money.

Does anyone have any brainwaves of where I can 're book, that hot, fun for a toddler and fucking safe from zika!

Canaries?

Deadbudgie · 10/01/2019 09:02

A cruise in that area not very likely to get bitten or canaries - won’t be as hot though. So sorry about your mmc.

Hi. I was in cancun in August, was rainy some days- perfect weather for mosquitoes. I was the only one in my family concerned about getting bit (yet it’s uduslly my husband and one daughter who ate most likely to attract them). I wore the patches in your clothes. They wore nothing.

No bites at all around our resort. No one.

We had a number of trips out. Including xcarat water park. No bites there

However, we did go to one of the sink holes, traipsing through the forest to get there (on paths). Only there we had bites, not many. As you’re in swimsuits, in/out water no repellent I think would stay on.

I think as this time of year, it’s cooler so would be less likely to have mosquitoes. If concerned, stay in your resort and built up areas as opposed to walking through forests with bodies of water.

I'm currently having this problem as we nearly booked Barbados and I'm 17 weeks pregnant.. we r goin to head to the Canary Islands in April not as warm but it's safe and by then I will be 30 odd weeks pregnant so probably best!

I went to Mexico in January last year and didn’t see a mosquito. My husband is normally attacked by them but he didn’t get a single bite either. We then conceived in March and now have a perfectly healthy baby girl.

Please ignore the people saying less likely..

It's not worth the risk!

Fuckingcancunttc · 10/01/2019 12:44

Thanks everyone, never a chance of me going and have found a suitable replacement but was so stressed at my own stupidity last night.

@Bigonesmallone3 fully agree not worth the risk, we are looking at Tampa now which is clear since 2nd June 2017.

@Deadbudgie thank you.
