Today I lost my bank card and had no other cash on me...
I didn't know until I was paying for my lunch (NHS canteen). A lovely gentleman in the queue behind me had paid for me before I even really processed what was going on. I've never met him before (but I noted his name and department on his badge so I can pay him back even though he was insistent that I didn't need to).
I missed my train by 10 seconds. Think doors closing, me running. My ticket was only valid for that train. I was close to tears (a few tears may have escaped) as I had no way of paying for another ticket for the next train. The train operator call centre could or would not help me (despite me sitting on the same service yesterday for an hour before it was cancelled). I was sat on the platform when the next train arrived, the guard walked off and saw me. He must have seen I was upset and after explanation let me onto the next train so that I could get home.
My faith in humanity is restored. It's nice to be reminded with all the crap in the world that there are such lovely people out there!
