There must be a de-icer that works straight away?

So this morning I almost missed my train as de icing the car took too long. Which got me thinking there must surely be a de icer that works straight away?

I have a scraper that cost £1.49 from B & M and it is pretty damn quick to just whizz round all the windows with it.

Onepuddingisneverenough · 09/01/2019 17:13

Yes, demon ice does one that’s amazing
You can even spray it on the night before to stop it freezing over.

isseywithcats · 09/01/2019 17:13

a scraper took about 20 seconds on our car windscreen this morning and more enviromentally friendly, and not poisonous to animals

LemonGirl · 09/01/2019 17:13

I was once told pigs urine. Probably not much help!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 09/01/2019 17:13

Jug of tepid water on windscreen.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/01/2019 17:15

Scraping is always quicker, in my experience. Get the aircon blowing fast and warm while you do it.

Butterymuffin · 09/01/2019 17:15

Yes, jug of just warm water from the tap does the job instantly.

Amanduh · 09/01/2019 17:16

Demon ice, night before it on the day takes seconds

Mishappening · 09/01/2019 17:17

How I hate those de-icer sprays that just dribble down your hand.

Consolidatedyourloins · 09/01/2019 17:18

De-icer is poisonous to cats, and there's loads of them on my street.

I'd hate for one of them to lick the run-off and die.

A scraper takes me less than a minute.

1shotcappuccino · 09/01/2019 17:19

Use PRE icer the night before. Voila !

Poppyfr33 · 09/01/2019 17:20

Leave home earlier!

blaaake · 09/01/2019 17:21

Dh's new car can defrost the windscreen and warm up the car and stay locked while he's still in the house with the key. Very jealous as I have to use about 5 jugs of warm water on mine!

wowfudge · 09/01/2019 17:21

I use water - as long as it's slightly warm, it works instantly and no danger of cracking the glass.

planespotting · 09/01/2019 17:22

Best thing, if you can, is covering the glass, we use a floor mat
Second scrapper
Deicers are mostly bad for animal plants etc
Pouring hot water on ice can cause the glass to break
Covering the glass does wonders

MotherofDinosaurs · 09/01/2019 18:33

I've been pouring hot water on my windscreen for 20 years and it's never cracked...

planespotting · 09/01/2019 18:44

@MotherofDinosaurs I meant straight from kettle sorry, I was told by garage person not to

Flamingchips · 09/01/2019 18:45

Precicer the night before works a treat

ginghambox · 09/01/2019 18:46

A garage.

octopusrus · 09/01/2019 18:47

The one I use from Tesco is pretty much instant. Stinks though.

octopusrus · 09/01/2019 18:48

Meant to say, it's a spray bottle rather than an aerosol.

Jog22 · 09/01/2019 18:59

A CD case does the job fine

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2019 19:03

I have a windscreen cover, no scraping of the front.

boringlyboring · 09/01/2019 19:05

I stick with scrapers as whenever I used a de-icer I would get a film on the inside of my windshield Confused Like a very thin sheet of ice that was too thin to scrape but too stubborn to wipe off so I would have to wait for the AC to clear it.

lanbro · 09/01/2019 19:07

I always use a scraper instead of a deicer, much quicker and does mist up the inside!
