Hi,

Has any done a gcse as a private student. As in you had to find the examination centre? How easy was it find a centre who was willing? Also was it expensive as in did they add more costs on top of the exam fee.

Thanks

Hi, most independent schools will let you sit as a private student. They generally charge the same cost the exam board sets to them for exam entry plus an admin fee. The independent school I used to work in charged an additional £30 per student per subject. This also covers paying the invigilators. If sitting all GCSE's they may well do it cheaper.

My husband did this. He found an exam centre easily. Think it cost quite a bit, he enjoyed his course but found it hard to motivate himself to revise and do the work but he passed x

Loads of info on taking exams as a private student via the home ed community - just google 'HE exams'. Good luck!
