Road rage moron

Driving back from work today and before I approach the roundabout in work I notice someone behind me beeping. I can't move over as there is a lorry next to me. Moving onto the next roundabout to pull onto the motorway he continues to chase my tail and beeping and then gets his phone out to, I assume, record me while has driving. Pulling onto the motorway from the slip road doing approx 60 now he pulls into my lane at a random sharp sideway. Causing me to break very hard and question what on earth has doing. He then keeps breaking very hard. This is all happening very quickly so bare in mind I am slowing down to avoid him but as initially it was approximately 60mph it's hard to just stop. Plus there are others behind me who've come off the slip road. I decide to call 999. I am giving them a detailed explanation as its happening etc. What has doing to me and now others too. The police basically said unless I have cctv it won't be pursued. I asked about the motorway camera etc and they said nope. We won't pursue it. AIBU to think this is why there are so many idiots on the road. Becasue nothing can or will be done. I am still shaken up by this and also worry I'll see him.again as he seems to work where I do.

What an absolute maniac. That must have been very scary! I suggest you get a front and rear facing dash cam. At least if something like this happens again you'll have the evidence needed.

Seeleyboo · 08/01/2019 16:07

Yes. It's a fairly new car so was thinking of this anyway but this has made me determined to get one this weekend. It was very scary.

Get a dash cam.

DH sent some scary footage to the employers of a crazy lorry driver and he got sacked.

How bizarre. Any idea what caused it (not that anything would justify this)?

Agree with dashcam suggestion. I have them on my bike. Without that you have no chance the police will bother to do anything - even where there is CCTV etc. They just don't see road safety as important at all. Even though it's the biggest killer in this country.

Bluelady · 08/01/2019 16:19

It sounds bloody terrifying. Are you all right?

Seeleyboo · 08/01/2019 16:21

Eight

I don't know. I just can't understand how from one internal estate roundabout to the next external one, very close proximity, could have enraged him so much. Plus I had the lorry by me so couldn't move over if that was his issue. I moved at the earliest and safest spot and this is when he pulled into my lane sideways. He eventually went off at his exit by passing with no consideration to anyone from the fast lane to almost missing the exit at top speed.

Blue

I am ok now thanks. Was shaken though and to be giving the police a blow by blow account as it was happening to them be told to hang up and nothing will be done unless more than one complaint comes through. Meh

The roads are full of impatient morons.
Don't be intimidated about future driving, he really won't remember you after 5 minutes. Do you imagine he only did that to you? No way, drivers like that are always battling someone - whoever is in 'their' way.
You did the right thing getting out of his way.

Nottobesoldseparately · 08/01/2019 16:31

I'm very surprised the police were not interested.

I reported a similar incident.

DH, who was driving thankfully, (DH has advanced training)went the wrong way to avoid the maniac and let him get away from us.

We later passed the driver as he'd been pulled by the police, who then proceeded to call me back and let me know they'd stopped him, given him points and a fine.

It wasn't that long ago, a few years but not that many.

Hope you're ok.

Use the DVLA reporting form, if you got his registration number!

Seeleyboo · 08/01/2019 16:40

I've got his number plate. No MOT. I'll check that link now. Thanks.
