I would never name a child Mia = missing in action. Or Cameron, what if she marries a guy named Cameron and then she is called Cameron Cameron?
Or Claudia because it means “one who is lame“ in Latin.

Agree with a pp, any name that was traditionally a surname.

Also, any Jayden, Kayden, Alfie, Kai I also work in a school

Ericaceae · 07/01/2019 19:38

Anything I struggle to say with my accent; central belt Scottish, not particularly strong, but I can't pronounce "Carl/Karl" properly for the life of me.
Any initials that matched mine/DP's/each other. Fine when they're wee, but not so fine when they start getting post.

Zoflorabore · 07/01/2019 19:38

Well i knew ds's would be on here as it's a bit too popular now, wasn't so much 16 years ago. I've just spotted dd's name on page 4 Blush what a bad mum I am...
Both dc on the list

Fiona. Was bullied terribly by one when 10/11 years old. Shudder whenever I hear the name. Will never forget how horrid she was to me and hope for her sake we never ever meet again. Sharpens claws

SauvignonMum · 07/01/2019 19:40

I don't like 'K' names, I find them very harsh;
Kayleigh, Kate(ie), Kim etc

Oscar.. no reason, just don't like it. It seems to be EVERYWHERE lately

Amelia. I find the 'me' so whiney

Misspelt or anglicised Irish names, e.g. Shawn, Connor, Neeve, Keira 😩😩😩 even just typing them is making me shudder

Jayden, kayden, Morgan, Leighton, Logan, Chardonnay, mason etc... lots of those in my ds's class. Just not to my taste.

Anything hyphenated. Take your pick from below www.britishbabynames.com/blog/hyphen-names-2011.html

Pigflewpast · 07/01/2019 19:42

Imogen. I don’t know why, I just hate it.
Any name spelt differently, recently came across a baby Avah. Why??

Clionba · 07/01/2019 19:43

Keeley.
Kayleigh
Ashleigh

Ozil10 · 07/01/2019 19:46

My 9 year old cousin has a boy in her class called River. Wtf?!

I dislike all the top 10 names, and a special mention to Jaxon. A truly hideous name, even Jackson would be better. I also dislike very old names like Mildred, Edith, Maureen, Janice, those sort of things. And any American style names.

If I did have a boy I would call him Sascha and a girl Franscesca. So I probably have terrible taste compared to most!

Ynci · 07/01/2019 19:46

Alison. Never known one not to be a bitch. And that’s 50 years worth of them!

dustarr73 · 07/01/2019 19:47

Gary, any old lady names. They are just awful.
My sons names been mentioned.I feel so privileged Grin

formerbabe · 07/01/2019 19:48

Imogen. I don’t know why, I just hate it

Me too...it's a very ugly name imo.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 07/01/2019 19:48

Mia = missing in action
Or my name... Killed in action!

Clionba · 07/01/2019 19:48

Francesca is a nice name, but you might find Sascha to be problematic for a boy. Others may know better!!

birdsandroses · 07/01/2019 19:48

Surnames as a first name, but each to their own!

DragonNoodleCake · 07/01/2019 19:49

@Fatasfook I have a Grace, hope my accent is ok, I call her my little Graceling 😀

A name is what someone has been given, I try to be considerate of everyone's feelings about what they've been named and not say negative things about it as I will never know who I offend. My preference would be traditional names tho.

ShinyMe · 07/01/2019 19:50

The only name I would absolutely rule out is my own name, because that would be weird. I'd consider anything else.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/01/2019 19:53

Ivy, Nora, Edith, Ada, Elsie. Plain and bordering on frumpy and ugly.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 07/01/2019 19:56

I wouldn't consider top 10 names, dd has 3 Olivia's in her class and on the other end of the scale wouldn't pick really obscure names, they come across as very self indulgent with little thought to a person having to live with it their whole life, same goes for unique spellings.

Also wouldn't consider old names such as Albert, Arthur, Percy, Ivy, etc, I think names should die out before being resurrected, it seems odd having an 8 month old and 80 year old with the same name

AlexaAmbidextra · 07/01/2019 19:56

I met an adult woman called Pebbles. That was her real name. Wtf? I think her parents must have been influenced by The Flintstones.
