I would never name a child Mia = missing in action. Or Cameron, what if she marries a guy named Cameron and then she is called Cameron Cameron?
Or Claudia because it means “one who is lame“ in Latin.

Gloria
Colin
Chardonnay

Thetruthwillout80 · 08/01/2019 21:22

wouldn't call a girl Madison. It ends in "son" so really doesn't belong on a girl.

Madidaughter?!

KnucklestheEchidna · 08/01/2019 21:23

Sally

Betty777 · 08/01/2019 21:25

MrsKoala - are you called Cassandra?

AlexaAmbidextra · 08/01/2019 21:34

Woody. Who the hell can look at a tiny baby and lumber him with this for life?

ShirleyPhallus · 08/01/2019 21:35

Cassandra is fairly “only fools and horses” but Cassie is a beautiful name I think

Reminds of Monica’s cousin from friends

dustarr73 · 08/01/2019 21:40

Ivy and Violet i really dislike them.I would never comment on anyones name choice. But they are awful names.Sorry

Yidette86 · 08/01/2019 21:45

Oh no I have to disagree about Cassie... It completely ruins the name Cassandra, makes it less classy imo plus it sounds like Lassie Confused

jacksonmaine · 08/01/2019 21:52

Pigflewpast, is that you Lee Mack? Grin

TooManyPaws · 08/01/2019 21:53

A few days ago on (I think) another thread, someone said they hated them name Jamesina. That was my aunt's name but she was always called Nina, said Nye-na not Neena.

If you like old lady names, have a look at this list. I promise that every one is the name of a real person, usually over 80.

Jamesina
Johnina
Andrewina
Angusina
Alexanderina
Brucena
Walterina
Williamina
Robina (Rob-eye-na)

Surprisingly, they will no doubt all be known as Ina (Eye-na). Just take a bloke's name and stick -ina on it - Jaydenina anyone?

EwItsAHooman · 08/01/2019 22:03

Does anything think it'll go full circle with names? And that by the time all the kids named Edna, Mabel, Archie, Alfie, Ernie, etc are having their own children it'll be fashionable to use "old fashioned" names like Gary, Sheila, Claire, Debbie, Ashley, etc? "Proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Kelly, named after my Granny Kelly. A lovely little sister for older siblings Gareth and Donna."

EwItsAHooman · 08/01/2019 22:03

*anything = anyone

pineapplebryanbrown · 08/01/2019 22:07

Paws i know someone called Andrewina - nn Rena. Awful!

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 08/01/2019 22:21

Olivia. I just really really hate it and it reminds me of a few up thier ass parents who have daughters called Olivia who are little brats that get away with murder...
And Benjamin... literally hate the name... not even got a reason why 😂

MidniteScribbler · 08/01/2019 22:32

MidniteScribbler - does that also apply to the feminine version of Nathaniel/Nathan/Nate? I'll start writing my apology to DD's teachers now

No, you're fine. It's just the boys.

scrivette · 08/01/2019 22:39

Echo echo echo is a great name! Never heard of it before, I can't imagine there are many of them.

dustarr73 · 08/01/2019 22:57

Imagine though.Someone walking in to a room and asking if theres an Echo in here.Must be really funny( not)

NewDOOFUSfor19 · 08/01/2019 23:14

Yay, got to page 13 before I saw ds name! Named after a surfing penguin well heard the name and loved it I wanted his middle name to be maverick but oh thought I was insane so we agreed on another unusual name that we now dislike thanks to x factor.

I cannot stand names that are used from other names. No idea why but it really irritates me...for example....named William but gets called Billy. Why?! Why not just call your child bloody Billy?!

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 08/01/2019 23:19

JJ, absolutely hate that! Most names that sound like surnames and pretentious double-barrelled names, often ending in Mae (usually heard screamed through the supermarket by the super loud parents).

PedunculatedPolp · 08/01/2019 23:22

Totally agree Winewont, my favourite is "Oofy"!

DragginBallsEEEE · 08/01/2019 23:50

DD's name was mentioned here once or twice and I was about to take great offence at that but then they mentioned what names they'd call their kids and I'm actually more offended for their would-be-kids.

CoughLaughFart · 09/01/2019 01:17

One I’d forgotten is Rhys. 25 years ago maybe - now it seems like a name you’d pick if you’re trying to sound posh. Also, a school ‘friend’ of mine has used it, spelling it Reace 🤮🤮🤮

Yeaididthat · 09/01/2019 01:38

Judith. Sharon. Laurel.

Bouncingbelle · 09/01/2019 01:39

Jaxson. Jackson/jaxon i dont like but jaxson sets my teeth on edge! You dont need the 's' with an "x"

Percy - ridiculously posh and don't knoe why you'd impose such a name on a baby!

FortunesFave · 09/01/2019 01:44

Cough "posh"?? Are you kidding? Rhys is the most down to earth, bog standard Welsh name EVER. It's akin to something like John!
