Hiring a cleaner who is a smoker- or not?

Non- smoking household. Looking for a new cleaner. Interviewed someone last week who had smoker smell and after they left i could still smell that stale cigarette smell for a while ( real or psychological..?).

I liked the person otherwise and would like to use them but now I'm worried i will come home to a house smelling like a bar each week... will it or am I over-worrying?

I'm a smoker and if they turn up smelling of smoke I wouldn't. You can smoke and still look after your personal hygiene.

I wouldnt. I would hate it if they had their smoke outside and then came straight in to clean because I work at home so id be there whilst the Smokey smell was still around.

You're hiring someone to work in your home. You don't need permission from anyone here to say "she's not a good fit".

I wouldn’t if you could still smell it afterwards.

Our cleaner smokes but she is very careful not to smoke just before coming here and doesn’t smell. To be honest her handbag sometimes smells but it never lingers.

I wouldn’t hire them. I’ve a good sense of smell and to me the cigarette smell always lingers. It would bother me too much.

We have a cleaning firm who clean our home, they bring a team of 3-4 people and just pile through the house in about 45 minutes ... I've seen them smoke outside before when I've turned up and they're still there - literally never smelled any smoke in my house and I notice it a lot as my il's smoke and it makes me a bit nauseated smelling stale smoke

@flumpybear thats in my mind. Previously i used a company so had no idea of cleaners smoking status and never smelled anything. Im wondering if i really will smell anything or not. Plus I didn't like the other person so limited options
