We have a fox living in a den under our summerhouse. I would not want to hurt it, I think they are beautiful creatures, I just don't want one in my garden. The other complication , we are meant to be getting a puppy in a few weeks, but now I'm very nervous about this, incase the puppy get out in the garden while my back is turned . Help ...any advice of how to move it on to a new home

The RSPCA May be able to help. They did when we had a badger in our garage when I was a kid, they came out and moved it along.

Why is it bothering you so much?

Concrete it up when he's gone out

@ Maneandfeathers because of the puppy. If we weren't getting the puppy I wouldn't have a problem.

There's some stuff you can spray that apparently makes foxes decide it would be more fun to live elsewhere. I've used it but TBH I think the fox would have moved on anyway.

Meanwhile, when your puppy is tiny, you'll be supervising like a hawk. And when it's a bit bigger, any foxes around will be thinking 'um, maybe not, it's got sharpish teeth, let's go and find a bin instead'.

RSPCA or another wildlife charity can help. Give them a call.

Thank you some great advice . Not sure I could concrete it up as the summerhouse is slightly raised and the fox is going underneath. But it not high enough for me to crawl under .

Meanwhile far more importantly... what sort of puppy? Any photos? We love puppies... and also the Mumsnet Dog House subforum might be a good place to have a bimble around.

Male (human) urine is supposed to be a great deterrent.

As are chillis.... this is all anecdotal but I suppose it maybe wouldn’t hurt to try?
