Asda refund rejected

HaveYouSeentheWritingontheWall · 06/01/2019 21:44

Just checked my emails and have received an email from Asda rejecting the refund I requested for a missing item, the email states that I should phone the customer service dept if I have any queries which they will be happy to answer, except that when I did phone they couldn't deal with it and I have to wait for a phone call from them sometime within the next 24 hours. I can't imagine that they will call tonight and I will be at work tomorrow (where we are not allowed to answer our phones except during official breaks)

Aibu to be angry that not only do I not have the item or a refund but also that I have no explanation as to why the refund has been rejected today?

I have had a few things go missing with asda, for whatever reason the courier they use always seems to leave things outside. Ive always been refunded without issue, Probably best to call rather than email.

HaveYouSeentheWritingontheWall · 06/01/2019 22:13

I emailed the request for a refund for the missing item, they emailed back rejecting the refund stating that if I had a query to call them and they would be happy to answer any questions so I called them, that's when they said that they couldn't deal with it and someone will call me within the next 24 hours.

I've had missing items refunded without any problems before, I've had items that I've not ordered in my delivery and have handed them straight back to the driver.

Why send an email stating that they would be happy to answer any questions if they can't answer the question why has my refund request been rejected?

Did you email for a refund or do it through your recent orders on the website?

whatsthepointthen · 06/01/2019 22:29

They do try to fob you off sometimes they did that with me at first (someone will call and they never do) I would try to call again or could you dispute it with your bank?

Sohumdrum · 06/01/2019 22:31

I have struggled with asda wasn't till I slightly lost it on the phone to customer service that I got anywhere. Just found them to be completely incompetent.

Ordered items for in store pick up. Wrong items sent (toddler duvets instead of single duvets) double checked and it was their error. Store said would return and arrange refund but they couldn't do it directly. Ages later receive a refund for one duvet cover not the two sent back. Emailed and after the 2 days they replied to me wanting proof that I returned two duvet covers. Patience well and truly tested at this point and may have been a little bit rude to the poor lady on the phone who processed refund straight away.

Never ordering from them again! Too much hassle.

I've never had a refund rejected. That seems really odd. I had to request a whole crate full a few days ago as it was missed entirely. Refund approved within 3 hours.

HaveYouSeentheWritingontheWall · 07/01/2019 16:04

@slashlover the refund request was made through my account on the website, not that it should make a difference.

@Howhot, I've never had a refund rejected either and I also thought it was odd, I've ordered this item before (many times) and it usually comes in a carrier bag on its own. I guess I'm a bit peeved because the item costs more than £10 which I really can't afford to lose right now especially as the item wasn't actually for me.

ASDA automatically rejects refunds if there if you they deem you to have a 'high level of returns'. You can call customer services and complain its just a lot of hassle.

slashlover · 19/02/2020 11:57

@JustAMummyof1 I'm sure she'll jump right in her time machine as this is over a year old.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 19/02/2020 11:58

Asda are all round shit. Shop Tesco online, much better.

JustAMummyof1 · 19/02/2020 12:03

@slashlover Just posting incase it's useful to anyone else having a similar problem. You're still reading after a year, so it must be somewhat relevant.

TheGirlWithAPrince · 19/02/2020 12:16

normally they decline a refund if you have asked for refunds on many previous orders then they usually decline and then ban the account/card so i would just wait to talk to them.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I find they offer a LOT of unsuitable substitutes. I usually request a refund for these and over time they have set up my account to automatically reject refunds lol. Thanks ASDA

@JustAMummyOf1 by posting on a thread that is over a year old you've moved it to active topics, and bumped it on the AIBU board. That now means a zillion MNers are going to open the thread, roll their eyes and wonder why people insist on resurrecting threads from over a year ago. That doesn't make it relevant. It makes it a PITA Grin

FizzyIce · 19/02/2020 13:45

Yep.. done just that 👆🏼 And rolled my eyes ...

mollypuss1 · 19/02/2020 13:50

Having invested over a minute reading this before realising it was a zombie thread I now need closure, did she ever get her refund?

Cummin · 09/05/2021 19:12

I ordered a few times from asda. Never refunded anything. Last time there was a lamb leg missing but they still charged me for it. I requested refund for it and marked that it was not delivered and got an automatic reject in like 30 seconds. I'm not going to call their customer support and waste a few hours on the phone. Not worth it. But I ain't shopping from them ever again either

ThatIsMyPotato · 09/05/2021 19:16

ZOMBIEEEEE

Cummin · 09/05/2021 19:41
