To ask if Hermes are always shit or if I just have bad experiences?

More of a rant really.

I ordered vacuum cleaner bags from amazon and paid for priority delivery as I have a rental inspection on Tuesday and mine is almost full.

Stayed home all day to wait delivery today. Just checked tracking as I am surprised it still hasn’t arrived - apparently it was delivered by Hermes at 1315 today!! I’ve been home all day, nobody has rung my doorbell and I have been working in the front room so would have seen anyone approach the property.

This is the third time Hermes has done this to me. No delivery note through letter box and no sign that delivery has been attempted. Address is correct, unchanged and we have a drive and an easily accessible street. Aaaaaaarrrrggghh!!!!

Amazon is investigating and will send out a replacement which will now not arrive before Tuesday.

Has anyone else had absolutely shit experiences with Hermes? Do they actually deliver or do they randomly throw parcels into the Thames?

Always shit. They have forged my signature before, and have a habit of leaving my parcels in our general waste bin. The only delivery company that is worse is Parcelforce.

Sewrainbow · 06/01/2019 21:31

Always shit I've found!

mum11970 · 06/01/2019 21:35

Yodel are shit. Dd is still waiting for a parcel that should have arrived on Thursday. Tracking has it going backwards and forwards to sorting offices, security checks and ‘there may be a short delay’. It’s a pair of fecking shorts, travelling 80 miles; what ruddy security checks can they possibly need. Next day delivery my arse!

brighteyeowl17 · 06/01/2019 21:39

Always pants. Have had a hoover part thrown over the gate. sandals from la redoute ‘signed for’ by me except it wasn’t me. Presumably driver. Never got and la redoute refused to refund as signature was my name printed so must have been me apparently. Had a make up pallet smashed as pushed through letter box despite being signed for and marked fragile. Two others I was in but according to Hermes I wasn’t and no attempt made, I got an email saying I wasn’t in so would be sent back to depot. Hose pipe left on our doorstep which although not a busy road is certainly not secure, on their system it was recorded as left in wheelie bin?

SusanneLinder · 06/01/2019 21:39

Shit. DD had to take them to court over an expensive item they "lost"( long story). Won her case and baillifs had to be threatened before they paid up.

ButDoYouAvocado · 06/01/2019 22:02

Well...I thought i was getting great servuie from them initially. They rang me up because they couldn't find my aunt's house (it has a name rather than a number) and asked if i could look it up on street view whilst they did the same at the other end so i could describe the house. Great right?

Until the operator started commenting on how lovely my aunt's house was, following up with 'Well it will be yours one day' and 'you'll get a great rental return on that'

Shocked AF

PattiStanger · 06/01/2019 22:05

My Hermes lady is brilliant, never had a problem and she's always helpful with queries

makingmiracles · 06/01/2019 22:22

They are infamously shitty. Round my area they are forever losing parcels or delivering them to completely random addresses.
Bought some shoes off eBay about 6 m ago and the tracking was showing as delivered, managed to get hold of a phone number for a local agent( only by luck as I knew a friend had done a bit of work for them) And we had a heated discussion about where she left the parcel, she was completely insistent I’d received it, that it was handed to a young man- we were all in and DS had no signed for anything nor had anyone heard the door. After getting quite frustrated I asked her to describe my garden, to which she went a bit sheepish and admitted it was delivered to a house with a drive but no garden, helpfully she’d recalled delivering to a similar numbered door that eve. I finally found my parcel, with people 10 doors down from me!
Their customer services is shocking and trying to contact them by phone is nr impossible.

Pa10ma · 06/01/2019 22:44

I would never normally comment about this kind if thing but ARGGGGHH!! Hermes are truly shocking. I’ve just spent 4 weeks trying to get an explanation for a missing parcel. I waited 40 mins to get onto an online chat with an agent. They just kept saying it was delivered to the “safe place” then disconnecting me. There is no phone number anywhere on their website. I’ve had to send about 15 emails to their “customer service.” Every response contradicted the previous one - “in a safe place,” “given to resident,” “driver cannot recall.” Every time I told them there was no card through the door; no sighting of a Hermes delivery person on our security camera at the time they said it was delivered; all safe places had been checked and all possible neighbours, they kept sending me an email saying “Case resolved!” It’s still going on now. The most utterly crap customer service I have ever experienced in my life. They are blatant liars and just fob you off at every communication.

MamaOoohhh · 06/01/2019 22:48

I once had a parcel left by Hemes in my recycling bin... which was at the end of my drive.... because it was bin day.

Yep.

ginghamstarfish · 06/01/2019 22:54

Useless

arranbubonicplague · 06/01/2019 22:55

Another one saying that my local Hermes courier is an unfailingly helpful, delightful woman who is excellent and considerate.

PattiStanger · 06/01/2019 23:04

Perhaps Arran we are neighbours as no one else seems to have a good word to say Smile

My Hermes delivery lady is awesome.

Do you think that we live near madeyemoodysmum too? Grin Wouldn't that be so odd?

HelloThere1234 · 06/01/2019 23:12

Absolutely shite.

The Christmas before last they left the £600 iPad I'd bought for my wife in the refuse bin!!

A few months later I ordered £200 worth of cardboard packaging, I wasn't in so they left it resting against the aforementioned bin. In the pouring rain.
By the time I got home it was mulch.

I appreciate the drivers don't have much time per delivery, but a brain cell should be a requirement for the job!

Nat6999 · 06/01/2019 23:15

If I order anything that is delivered by Hermes I always have it delivered to my local supermarket after having very bad experiences with them. The Hermes agent for my area insists on delivering very early in a morning, I've had her hammering on my door at 6.00am, when I've answered the door she complains at how long it took me to answer. I'm disabled & struggle to walk, plus at that time I'm usually still in bed asleep, if I've missed her calling, she doesn't leave a number to contact to arrange a delivery. I used to have a lovely Hermes agent who nothing was too much trouble, she lived nearby & didn't mind if I picked up or dropped off parcels from her home, it's a pity there aren't more like her.

HelloThere1234 · 06/01/2019 23:19

Oh and I forgot about the time they left a laptop outside my front door.

It wasn't raining that day but the box was very clearly labelled and in view of anyone walking passed.
Luckily I have good neighbours.

Turin · 06/01/2019 23:26

Love love love my Hermes courier. I dread getting a dpd yodel or ups text message for deliveries.

My Hermes courier always leaves my stuff in the safe place, picks up returns and responds to text messages for any parcel location queries I have.

coffeeforone · 07/01/2019 00:02

Hermes are really rubbish in my home area, but great at my workplace 15 miles away. DPD are great in both areas IME

Lellochip · 07/01/2019 00:20

I'm still undecided, they somehow managed to get my last parcel into my kitchen while I was at work. Can only assume the cat dutifully unlocked the catflap and waited while they posted it through there.

Was surprised to see that the cat has also apparently signed for it, as I'm sure the delivery driver wouldn't have fraudulently signed my name... Hmm

That said, after days of 'in transit'/'out for delivery' I was just glad to receive it so can't complain

Gth1234 · 07/01/2019 00:21

They have a lot of drops to make in a short time. I think for the most part, they try, but occasionally there are errors.

Gth1234 · 07/01/2019 00:21

… that's why, if I can I do click and collect. Never had a problem picking up at Argos

pottypotamus · 07/01/2019 00:32

Hermes are SHITE.
Where I live is a little strange in that driveways and vehicle access is only round the back of he house. But we have put a door bell at the back because we know people sometimes come round the back. We have a normal fence and gate which is always unlocked)

They have delivered to me on 3 or 4 occasions and every time, instead of opening gate and pressing doorbell, they lob the packages over the gate (which is about 6 foot high) Angry

Charlottejade89 · 07/01/2019 13:44

Hermes and Amazon are both crap. Amazon apparel toy delivered my parcel which was a brand new laptop to my house. Wouldn't offer any sort of refund or replacement because on their system I had apparently signed for it. Turned out they'd left it with a neighbour but hadnt carded me to let me know. And just before Christmas Hermes left 5 big parcels in a "safe place" as I wasn't in. The safe place being right on my doorstep in plain sight for everyone to see Angry

Bonkersblond · 07/01/2019 13:52

We had a brilliant Hermes man, not sure where he went but current service is beyond awful and putting me off internet shopping if that’s who they use. No calling cards left and they attempted delivery 3 times, parcel was sent back to shop in the end, and once they delivered to a safe place, one I hadn’t specified, it was there 2 weeks, only found out by contacting shop as they didn’t leave a calling card that time eitherHmm
