So on the news this morning was a lovely lady urging us on as women to go hairy for January. But hears the kicker. This is my whole winter. From november to march i cant be fucked to shave. Its that extra layer of fluff that keeps me warm. Sorry not an aibu but more a wtf moment. Razor... ill see u in 3 months time 😁

I did Novembhair and and Decembhair too.

I only shave my legs when I want to wear my mustard tights:o

SparklyLeprechaun · 06/01/2019 18:51

Use it for charity fundraising, OP Smile

I do dry January every year, fits perfectly into my dry January - December routine.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/01/2019 18:52

I don't think it will catch on, too many women are happy with their winter pelt Smile.

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2019 18:53

I didn't shave my legs properly even when I had a fibroid removal op in October last year. I don't have a sex life so only shave them every few weeks.

BeanTownNancy · 06/01/2019 18:55

I had abdominal surgery in the summer, then got pregnant almost immediately after (oops!) so I've not been able to crunch at the stomach for like 7 months so far... Just always wear leggings. My husband is the only person who sees them unsheathed, and he's not suicidal enough to comment on it. Grin

AfterSchoolWorry · 06/01/2019 18:56

I'm so fancy I shaved especially for the swimming pool yesterday! 👙💦🏊 otherwise it's Winthair.

mizu · 06/01/2019 18:57

Go hairy for January Shock that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
I very rarely shave during the entire winter. Surely there are many women who don't.

Crazy Grin

mizu · 06/01/2019 18:58

Winthair Grin

RoseReally · 06/01/2019 18:59

I thought the exact same!

PassTheGinPlease · 06/01/2019 19:08

I'm so pleased it's not just me who does exactly this as soon as the summer is over Blush
It's another excuse for a hashtag on Instagram. We used to do dry January, not for a health kick but because we were skint

RayRayBidet · 06/01/2019 19:10

I was hairy in November and December too but you don't hear me shouting about it Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/01/2019 19:13

I thought this was standard?!

To be fair though I have defuzzed once this winter, for labour purposes!

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2019 19:25

WofflingOn · 06/01/2019 19:28

Winthair needs to be put forwards to the OED for inclusion, it’s a fantastic word for what so many women do.

nicoala1 · 06/01/2019 19:28

Social media rules our hairs now.

OMG. We will never be able to make our own decisions.

Unless they are dictated to us. LOL.

GruciusMalfoy · 06/01/2019 19:31

I caught sight of my pits in the mirror yesterday and realised it must be about 4 months since I last shaved them. IDGAF.

Cismyfatarse1 · 06/01/2019 22:33

I only mow the edges come Spring.

Guineapiglet345 · 06/01/2019 22:44

I saw an article about this on FB earlier and was surprised at how many comments saying it was disgusting and dirty etc.

Women have body hair, that shouldn’t be a shock to anyone, I probably shave my legs 3 or 4 times a year max, I’ve got fair hair and it never gets very thick, I only shave my underarms if I’m going to wear a sleeveless top.

userofthiswebsite · 06/01/2019 22:48

Don't you find the re-growth terribly itchy?
After shaving I find about 3 days and it's really irritating, not so much on the legs/underarms but definitely the hair around your bits is thicker (at least in my experience) hence find it more itchy when it grows.

RayRayBidet · 07/01/2019 20:54

@GruciusMalfoy
I think I love you

WetWednesdays · 07/01/2019 20:57

I've shaved my legs once this winter. The itchy, burning regrowth was fucking horrible

PhannyMcNee · 07/01/2019 20:59

I love my silky pitmuffs and luxurious 70s bush.

Very very occasionally mid summer I’ll gel all enthusiastic and de-fur but generally I am with Solebizzz and Newtlover

RedemptiveCrocodile · 07/01/2019 21:04

Women never shaved before razor manufacturers wanted to open up a new market for increased sales. Shaving is culturally dictated. Do what you like, I'm not judging. I just find it interesting how much commercialisation has influenced cultural norms over the past 100-odd years.
