Quick question
I called gps as I had waited 8 weeks for my results
The receptionist said that there was no action but still should receive a letter from hospital I still haven't had one
I am assuming that all was ok I didn't know that gps got the results too

If I were you I would probably chase again, but you should be reassured by the no action needed. Maybe they are behind with the holidays? 5/6 weeks is generally usual.

Meadow74 · 06/01/2019 15:15

I was told they'd send the results through the post , and if they thought I needed seeing again they'd send a letter within a couple of weeks, so I'd assume all was ok tbh. Hopefully you'll hear something soon.

Do they always send a copy of results to gps to

Surely the results are just added to your patient profile?

BWatchWatcher · 06/01/2019 15:33

I was told you only hear if it requires a follow up.

Ohheyyy · 06/01/2019 15:34

Results currently take 12 weeks where I live but you HAVE to get a letter regardless of the result so if you don't receive one you need to chase it up. No letter doesn't mean you've got the all clear.

Ohheyyy · 06/01/2019 15:34

Sorry, pressed too soon. Meant to add that it seems procedure regarding letters depends on your area.

minime01 · 06/01/2019 15:36

Surely tho if the gp got the results and said no action I'd required they have had the results before me

It will be added to your record almost immediately after you've been seen, which your GP has access to. They didn't necessarily send a letter to your GP.

I had my most recent smear in September 2018. I asked the nurse if I should expect to hear the results within the usual 6 week period but she said it would be longer. I think there are delays with the histopathology labs. My sample was apparently being sent somewhere much further afield due to the delays/back log. This obviously had a knock on effect with delayed results. No harm in chasing it up though.

minime01 · 06/01/2019 15:59

So the hospital adds the results to the computer when they've tested it then
Hope I'm not sounding stupid but I worry my self sick with things like this and just amazed how they known for a while and not me

Different departments send letters at different rates. I got a letter from the gyno with an appointment before I got a letter from the GP telling me they were referring me to the gyno.

I'm sure if there were any issues they would have contacted you immediately.
