To take DD(5) swimming with a temp of 38.5?

Just that. She’s fine in herself, if a bit quiet, and says she wants to go.
The temperature is down from 39.5 with calpol.

You still haven’t acknowledged the risk to other people though?

No soydora because the OP says this

i would torally go swimming with a fever

So to the OP it doesnt matter about other people in the pool, people at reception, in the changing room, or just randomly bump ij too who might be immune supressed, have verious illnesses and disablities that cause lower immunity, or just too young or to old to be lucky enough to have a good immune system. Because it doesnt matter if she as an adult had a fever she'd still go swimming.

As for the core temputure stuff that sounds rubbish. Its like the oh shes just big boned. I think you need to query the tempture with your doctor if its constantly running at 38.

Montsti · 06/01/2019 11:58

How unbelievably selfish - this kind of attitude seriously winds me up😡😡

itsalloverforanotheryear · 06/01/2019 11:59

No

PoisonousSmurf · 06/01/2019 11:59

It's people like you that make swimming pools disgusting...

ShaggyRug · 06/01/2019 12:04

That’s a high normal temp though if you say age always runs at 38. I’ve always been taught 38 is considered the start of a fever.

ShaggyRug · 06/01/2019 12:05

And NO NO NO to swimming. For the sake of everyone else in the pool.

Kikipost · 06/01/2019 12:08

Good grief, absolutely not

XiCi · 06/01/2019 12:12

I would totally go swimming with a fever

What the fuck is wrong with people. Can't work out whether it's stupidity or incredible selfishness.

MaidenMotherCrone · 06/01/2019 12:18

You know sometimes you read a thread and think what the actual fuck?

This is one of those.

Arrowfanatic · 06/01/2019 12:20

I'd get a new thermometer, no child should have a base temp of 38. 37.5 is considered a temp for a child. Women can have a temp rise of 2 degrees with their monthly cycle but not a small child.

Im currently rocking a temp of 37.7 & feel like dog shit.

A temp like your daughter has could be an infection. Dont be stupid, this isnt ok. Hmm

SweetPeaPods · 06/01/2019 12:22

Wow, just wow!
OP please don’t take her

RedWineIsFabulous · 06/01/2019 12:28

Oh how silly, selfish and extremely ignorant for you to even consider it.

A fever means that the body is fighting an infection and that’s probably the last thing the child needs- going swimming ShockShockShock

How fucking silly.

I cannot believe that you are even asking. Not to mention your inconsideration for fellow members of the public using the pool.

Bet you’ll be taking the poor child to school tomorrow as well- masking the fever with Calpol and allowing the other children to become infected.

Nice one.

randomsabreuse · 06/01/2019 12:30

Nope especially as DD3 was spiking high temp, otherwise ok, turned out to be ear infection and perforated eardrum so swimming really not ideal

Dimsumlosesum · 06/01/2019 12:32

She's got a temperature, why the tel would you do that?

MsHopey · 06/01/2019 12:36

It sounds like you've already taken her swimming. . . .?

RandomUsernameHere · 06/01/2019 12:40

YABU even if you think your DD is fine it's not fair on everyone else

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 06/01/2019 12:40

In addition to what has been already posted - wouldn't be due to the fact that swimming lessons are pre-paid, and you don't want to "lose out" - despite the possibility of unpleasant consequences for your daughter and other people?

iveneversaidanything · 06/01/2019 13:06

This thread is 100% unanimous so far! Amazing.

Also, no to the Op

werideatdawn · 06/01/2019 13:07

Are people really this stupid?

AlaskanOilBaron · 06/01/2019 13:09

You know sometimes you read a thread and think what the actual fuck?
Yes.

Honestly, OP, WTF?

Deadringer · 06/01/2019 13:09

Well she wants to go so that's all that matters isn't it. Hmm

Cuntcuntcunt · 06/01/2019 13:10

You are one of the most staggering selfish people I have ever come across. I can't believe you would not only take your DD but go swimming yourself with a fever.

What about that immunocompromised person you meet in the reception? Don't you give a shit?

Lose2StoneObviously · 06/01/2019 13:10

How much will she cost and inconvenience the pool mana when she shits or vomits in the water and it has to be closed. God the sheer selfishness of some people never fails to amaze me

LadyLaSnack · 06/01/2019 13:21

Another no with a different slant.

A fever is her body’s way of fighting an infection. Her body is raising its own core temperature to stop the infection replicating itself. Thus doing an activity which makes the body work harder to maintain its core temp is a very bad idea.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 06/01/2019 13:28

Probably a silly question but have you checked the thermometer - is it showing a normal reading for you? If so then I wouldn't, the calpol will be masking how bad she really feels
