To ask if constant use of emojis annoys you?

I’ve been on a few dates with a guy who seems nice but a bit of a joker, as in haha!

I’m all for a laugh but must admit that his constant use of the 😂🤣 emojis at the end of pretty much every message is now starting to annoy me.

Is anyone else the same or do I just need to lighten up?

I do the same :) :) what's there not to like?? It's just friendly!

YouBelongHere · 03/01/2019 16:07

Ah I'm the opposite, I get nervous when people don't use emojis 'cos I'm worried whoever I'm speaking to is mad at me!! Blush

I'm guilty of using the laughing face after nearly every message, I can't help it!

Vitalogy · 03/01/2019 16:39

He seems a happy chap. Doesn't bode well though OP if he's annoying you already. Sad

Vitalogy · 03/01/2019 16:40

Does he make you laugh?

StarJazmin · 03/01/2019 16:43

🤷🏻‍♀️🤪😎🤨

MarmiteTermite · 03/01/2019 16:43

I like emojis too as sometimes it’s hard to convey emotion in a short text message Smile

AGHHHH · 03/01/2019 16:45

I like them but not every single message.

GlitterStick · 03/01/2019 16:46

It's friendly. It conveys tone better as that doesn't always come across well in the written form.
I'm always randomly cheesy grinning at people Grin

GlmPmum · 03/01/2019 16:49

My husband is the biggest pain in the arse with emojis, can't type words everything is bloody emoji! He thinks he's funny I think he's Knob! Haha

MassiveMug · 03/01/2019 16:56

He’s does make me laugh but the constant 😂🤣😂😂😂 with pretty much every message is doing my head in.

For example ‘are you having a good day’? Yeah not bad thanks 😂😂

No need for it there really. Maybe I should just tell him?

I personally really like emojis. It's just a bit of a laugh and conveys the tone easily and quickly. But I think I'm of that generation that grew up when emojis first started appearing in text messages (or mobile phones and then text messages started appearing 😅) so they still feel a bit novel to me.

This reminds me of when my father in law got a new phone years ago he couldn't work out punctuation or emojis, so he'd type "qm" for question mark and "sf" for smiley face. My husband would get messages like "What are you doing tomorrow qm" and it was funny AF.

kirstywursty012 · 03/01/2019 16:59

I get what you mean OP! The laughing crying face is supposed to mean LOL! Maybe he just finds you really funny Wink

I get more bothered by people who sign off every single message with "xxx". I feel like they're trying to lick my face!

Vitalogy · 03/01/2019 17:01

Maybe it's a nervousness thing, some people try and hide it with humour.

recklessruby · 03/01/2019 17:02

I love them! SmileGrinWink I think they're quite sweet and harmless. Sounds like a nice guy.

MassiveMug · 03/01/2019 17:07

He is a really nice guy, maybe I just need to lighten up a bit Smile

bobstersmum · 03/01/2019 17:35

Well, I personally don't like them and the reason is, I have quite bad eyesight even with my glasses on and I struggle to make out what most of them mean!

MassiveMug · 03/01/2019 17:49

bob even I struggle to understand what some of them mean?

Rodenhide · 03/01/2019 17:52

😊😊😊😊😊😊😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😍😍🙂😋😅😄
Yanbu, just typing that made me feel very disappointed in myself.
However, my friends get annoyed at me as I use actual punctuation, up to and including semi colons, in casual text messages. So, I guess it works both ways.

OrdinaryGirl · 03/01/2019 18:08

I don't mind a well-judged emoji, as to me they can act like seasoning to a message, but this is the most overused, most irritating emoji EVER: 😂

No, you are not crying with laughter. You're not. The thing I just sent wasn't that funny. Stop using it.

I tend to use 😄 in preference as this is close to the face I'm actually likely to be expressing. Minus All The Yellow and solid block of teeth.
