Started bathroom on 28th Dec
Skip was meant to be delivered 29th to no mention of this!
30th Dec came in boarded walls and electrics.
31st they boarded waste pipe and ceiling

No work done 2/3 January
Now skip arrived in most stupid position though admittedly on drive!
Plastering arrives tomorrow and bath will be fitted but no sign of tiler
I assume Monday?

AIBU for the bathroom to be done in 5 working days? So would be finished Friday evening?

I am amazed you found any tradesmen to work over the holiday. They usually close for a fortnight and so to many of the suppliers. Cowboy tradesmen means shoddy work in my mind, not timekeeping

My (small!) bathroom took 11 working days and some of those were long days. Tiling is one of the last things they do.

So all sounds fine to me so far...

The skip is on the drive. Is the angle particularly important?

Comes across that you're either being unrealistic in your timescales, or you're looking for problems.

One guy quoted me 2 weeks to do a bathroom which I thought was bonkers. I should have gone with him, the guy we eventually used couldn't work certain days (his mate wasn't available!) and I think he had an 'artist meltdown' towards the end. It wasn't difficult but was a bit different, lots of mosaic tiles.

Sounds like there are several tradesmen to be coordinated to to do everything (plaster/tiler) so given the time of year I’m not surprised it isn’t all happening in 5 days. Out of curiosity why on earth would expect a tiler to turn up BEFORE the bath is fitted or before the plastering is done?

Housingcraze · 04/01/2019 18:04

My issue now was meant to call so could pop over and see when whatever happening, and no phone call and we discussed bath taps to be in the middle, instead they put them in wrong place?

This isn’t the correct place?

I’m afraid it isn’t reasonable to expect the tiler to work on wet plaster. The plasterer nees to havemfinished plastering and then the walls need to dry out before tiles are adhered.
Sounds like there’s poor communication between you and the main contractor but doesn’t automatically mean they’re cowboys. Skips are always b a third party so can’t blame main contractor that they delivered it wonky.
