To do a little astrology experiment

I don’t really believe in star signs.... except mine describes me to an absolute T and so I am curious!

My birthday is this month. I’m January 21st, on the Aquarius-Capricorn cusp. Anyone else born around this time?

Thinking about the qualities that I think mark me out from others around me:

I am a very emotional and empathic but not particularly outgoing and I think I can come across as aloof.

I value independence above pretty much all else. I am single and expect to remain so.

I love adventure, enjoy pushing boundaries, breaking rules and being secretly outrageous. I come across as a bit fuddy duddy on the surface but always surprise people with the naughty or eccentric thngs I have done!

I am very driven and ambitious, but also a crippling procrastinator.

Extremely disorganised. I think it comes with the not respecting rules and order thing!

Any others out there like me? And when is your birthday?!

OK - just to compare myself with you:

I am very unemotional but fairly empathic. I'm highly introvert although I don't feel awkward talking to strangers.

I'm not too worried about independence - I've been married a long time and feel monogamy suits me well.

I don't particularly worry about being adventurous. I'm sceptical about people's authority, but I'm generally happy being conformist. Occasionally, it's fun to surprise people doing something unexpected.

I'm not particularly ambitious, but I'm a big procrastinator.

I'm highly organised.

So, what star sign do you think I am?

yup. Im a completely different star sign, but that describes me to a tee. My own description also describes me to a tee.

OP, the definition of an experiment means you have to have a hypothesis and a methodology, which you don't, which is unsurprising, as astrology is a colossal load of wank.

echt - I agree that a scientific experiment should have a hypothesis etc, but "experiment" has a looser meaning in common parlance.

To be fair to OP, rather than express my view of the validity of astrology, my post above was an attempt to add a bit of scientific rigour, by testing whether anyone could tell my star sign from my character. Obviously, what we need is several people to describe themselves and one person to try to identify their star sign. I think we'd quickly find out the level of wankness of astrology.

Surely cusp people are supposed to have attributes of both?

In my opinion, these things are written in such a way that just about everyone could say "Ooh that's exactly me!"

I do like being independent but I am not single and have been with the same man since I was 18.

I also love these things but there is no secrecy to me at all. No one is at all surprised at the things I do.

In some ways I'm very disorganised, my house and car are a tip but my job requires me to be meticulous. At my work I am extremely well orangised and in social situations I'm usually the organiser. At workI love following the rules, even the ones I think are silly.

Have you looked at other starsigns? I bet you will recognise parts of yourself in those too.

Personally, despite it's palpable nonsense, I think there is some value in astrology ... it's a great way to get people to think of themselves in terms that a therapist can relate to. After all, very few patients will say "Yes, I'm incredibly self centred, I love being the centre of attention, and am drawn to the finer things in life". But in a land where more people know their star sign than blood group, quite a few will happily opine "Oh, I'm a typical Leo ....".
