Aibu to think a doctor in a&e could off made my kidneys even worse? Over the Christmas period I got really sick I went from one virus to another I ended up with tonsillitis that was horrendous.... we haven't got a walk in centre and the doctors were not open... so reluctantly I went to a&e I put a scarf around my face to try and prevent me spreading my germs ....it was Xmas day and I was seen pretty quickly , he asked me my medical history and was doing a lot off looking at his computer... he asked me to open my mouth and diagnosed tonsillitis and said I will need antibiotics for it ..... I told him several times I have kidney disease... mines controlled without medication... so he gave me the antibiotics and I went on my way , I felt so rough I didn't look at the box and just took them it was 2 tablets 4 times a day . It wasn't until the following evening I looked at the box and it had penicillin potassium... now a person with kidney disease should always avoid potassium..... I stopped taking them straight away and went to my doctors a day later to get new antibiotics.... aibu to think that this a&e doctor should off known this???
