To ask why tomato puree still comes in those pissing metal squeeze tubes?

Am I the only idiot who struggles to get it all out? No matter how well-intentioned I approach the metal tube of cooking disappointment, I always end up with a twister-shaped tube with random pointy corners that provide an unwelcome surprise. I know you can also get it in those little cans but I find that often goes to waste when I don't need that much. Is there a knack to it or am I a lost cause?

I roll the tube up from the bottom as i go, it seems to work...I'm thinking though that a push up tube thing like the ones you get for toothpaste would be a good idea.

As above. You roll it from the end. Just like with metal toothpaste tubes.

WreckTangled · 31/12/2018 16:22

I use a rolling pin when it starts getting less full. Makes it easier. I've heard of people using toothpaste squeezers too. I which it came in a big jar as I use quite a bit of it Grin

I wondered if my Ds had posted . He is the same with a tube of toothpaste . Roll from the bottom as previous poster said

Giggorata · 31/12/2018 16:22

You can get a gadget that sits on the bottom and allows you to roll it up like sardine tin key.
Better to be in a metal tube than single use plastic....

Yabbers · 31/12/2018 16:22

We buy the tins now. Those tubes are ridiculous.

townandcountrygirl · 31/12/2018 16:23

Hahaha. I wondered this the other day! I guess it makes the tomato puree last longer but I am a chaotic tube squeezer and nearly always end up cutting them open as a last resort!
