I'm confused too... Do you mean pregnancy test or ovulation test?

I’m so worried I’m being totally thick here but you don’t ovulate just before your period? It’s halfway through, no?

user1473878824 · 30/12/2018 20:44

@Grimbles I’m glad it’s not just me!

user1473878824 · 30/12/2018 20:45

Halfway through your cycle, sorry, not halfway through your period!

TeddybearBaby · 30/12/2018 20:45

I thought you ovulated something like 10 - 14 days before your period?

Smurfy23 · 30/12/2018 20:48

But if OP had her period last in November then she is unlikely to be ovulating now.....?

TeddybearBaby · 30/12/2018 20:51

It’s a while ago for me now and I can’t remember exactly but I have long cycles - about 38/40 days so my ovulation came later in the month. Think it depends on your cycle.......

Differentcorner · 30/12/2018 20:51

You will also get a positive ovulation rest of you are pregnant as it detects LH surges. Any chance you’re actually pregnant OP? x

TeddybearBaby · 30/12/2018 20:52

The pill messed up my cycle too and it took a while for everything to go back to normal.....

Grimbles · 30/12/2018 20:52

Just to beclear...

An ovulation test will react to the amount of lutenising hormone (LH) in your pee. LH increases when you are due to ovulate - it is not a binary thing, the darker the line the more LH and the closer to ovulating you are, it can build up over a couple of days though so a faint line doesn't mean anythi g.

Pregnancy tests react to hcg which is only produced when pregnant. It is a binary test so if a line appears then you are almost certainly pregnant if the test has worked properly (false positives are very rare)

You ovulate 10 - 14 days before your period starts. If your cycle is the “normal” 28 days then you ovulate half way through about 2 weeks after you started your last period. If your cycle is longer - say 6 weeks long, then you ovulate about 4 weeks after you started your last period.

Normally ovulation sticks get peed on like pregnancy tests and a positive is the test line being stronger and darker than the comparison line. I used to find using the sticks for a week before I expected to ovulate would let me watch the test line get darker and darker. We’d DTD every 2 days once the test line started to look as dark as the comparator.

Hope that helps!

theosmumma you're probably better making a new thread for more answers.

Theosmumma · 22/02/2019 13:00

That looks like it could be positive because both lines are the same colour

Damntheman · 22/02/2019 13:09

Looks positive to me. I used to get positive ones for 3 or 4 days with the line getting progressively darker each day until it dropped off again. Totally normal. Ovulation day test will be so dark you can't possibly be confused about it.
