@WhyDontYouComeOnOver they are hugely important - I think that’s why it dilutes that importance for the phrase to be used willy nilly. A bit like if everyone is ‘gluten intolerant’ then it all gets a bit lax, only truly affecting those that needed the accommodations in the first place?

But all of a sudden everyone has a safe space, or everyone is offering their home as a safe space. I think it's linked to the overuse of medical/clinical terms in general. I get irritated when I hear people describing themselves as a bit ocd as they have to straighten a picture. That was about a decade ago I think. The modern ones are that everyone's house or every other forum is a safe space.
